On Saturday morning November 7th Mr. Meredith, -one .of the engi neering officials of the Pennsylvania railroad, at Altoona, gave a valuable and interesting lecture in the old chapel upon "Engine Houses and their Accessories." Mr. Meredith treated the locomotive as an operat ing unit and dealt with the method of handling it and preparing it fOr service. The subject was presented in a manner which brought •clearly to the hearers' conception the ex tended and complex organization necessary to keep a great railroad like the Pennsylvania in operation.
