Continued from panel Neither pitcher allowed a single base on balls. The two thousand Cor nell undergraduates massed in the bleachers sent forth their appeals inning after inning for a victory, and when the sixteenth finally arrived pandemonium reigned for they re membered that last year's memor able victory was won in the six teenth. With the inspiring Cornell cheer re-echoing across the field Deshon struck out, Mason took care of Brown's grounder, and Coulson pulled down Heilman's fly. The State 'men ran in for their half of the seventeenth. With the head of the batting list up, the sense of victory pervaded the atmosphere around State's bench. Cree hit sharply to Brown, who fumbled, and . "Birdie" was safe at first. Captain Mason's neat bunt was barely fielded in time while Cree easily reached second. Larry Vorhis bunted and Brown fumbled, Larry reaching first safely. The intense strain was now telling on Corneli's players. Vorhis dashed for second and the catcher threw well to third to catch Cree, but Brown dropped the ball. Then Coulson hit to Heilman, and by a beautiful slide to the plate Cree scored. A moment later Larry Vor his scored on Crutchley's hot grounder to Heilman, and the great game was won. This is probably the most notable victory in all the annals of State College baseball, as NOTICE 1 'IHE STATE COLLEGIAN SPRING OF 1907 . ..•:,;:Vg ;:-P5 , ..1) - ."•;:;' , .e . ) i• - `1 • = l l • • v - : • ••s; r •' eat :" • • - . • ••; : - .1•. 1 ,; • • I. •':%'•, ". . • " .sf , • _ • . :.• • . • :\, , . • 4:••• , s , • ' • • : -1110 k— z. • ,e~'~ , F~,l,,`a: ,i o'` Copytioht The House of Kup Chico. •penhe~cer The Baltimore rledical College.
