Y.M.C.A. 529 Main Harrisburg Club The Harrisburg Club held a meet ing in Room 20, Engineering Build ing, last Wednesday night and the following office's were elected for the coming year: Pres., Groff, 'O7; Vice Pres., Meckley, 'OS; Treas., Loose, 'O7; Sec., Ryan, 'O9. Pres. Arnold appointed a com mittee to arrange for a banquet at the hotel on Saturday night, June 2. A plan for inducing more students to enter State College from Harris burg was also discussed. Dr. Atherton's Improvement. At the present writing—Tuesday— Dr. Dale reports an improvement in the condition of Dr. Atherton, and hopes for his recovery look better than at any time during his present illness. 1908 Elections At a meeting of the Sophomore class last week the following men were elected to serve as officers for next year President, W. B. Geise; Vice President, E. C. Heckman; Sec., D. S. Evans; Treas., H. S. Stanton. STATE COLLEGE, PA., MAY 31, 1906 Dickinson Defeated in Track Meet. On Saturday afternoon, May 26, State met Dickinson on Beaver Field in the annual dual track and field meet, and administered a crush ing defeat to the collegians from Carlisle, the final score being 86 to 18. It was a splendid afternoon for a meet except that a strong wind blew up the home stretch and pre vented fast time from being made. State took the lead at the be ginning, by winning both places in the hundred yard dash. At no time was there any danger of defeat, as Dickinson did not secure one first place, and got only six seconds. In the field events State made a clean sweep ; taking all the points. Two men won the 'Varsity "S" in this meet, Child in the low hurdles and Montz in the broad jump. Dunn broke the record for the hammer throw with a distance of 128 feet, 8 inches. After the meet, the track team elected "Hi" Henry, 'O7, cap tain for next year. The Dickinson fellows accepted the defeat with good grace, having better hopes for next year. State Chooses Negative State has chosen to uphold the negative side of the question sub mitted by Franklin and Marshall: Resolved, That the fifteenth amend ment to the constitution of the United States should be repealed. This debate will take place at Franklin Marshall next fall, and it is hoped that a large number of men will turn out and try for a place on the team. A Chapter of the Brotherhood Started After the confirmation and com munion service held in the foyer of the Auditorium Sunday morning at 9.30, Bishop Darlington initiated fourteen men into the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. This chapter grew out of The Bishop Darlington Church Club that was organized about three months ago by Rev. Mr. Brown, formerly of Bellefonte. The charter for the chapter was re ceived last week, and when the Bishop, who is a Brotherhood man himself, arrived, he consented to conduct the initiation. The chap ter's number is 1893.
