1905, The Banner Year. Continued from page r. sylvania, Dickinson (twice,) Frank lin and Marshall, Wyoming Semi nary, Williamsport and Altoona were all defeated. Captain Hombaker and his knights of the cinder path came next in order with three victories and one defeat. Dickinson and the Carlisle Indians were vanquished in duel meets, and at the Inter-colle giates in Philadelphia, a close second place was gained against six compe titors. The dusky Redskins at Car lisle managed to gain a one-point victory over State in their opening duel meet. Baseball comes next in order, and in this bunch of sport Captain Ray and his warriors established the finest record ever known for State, by winning 16 diamond battles out of 19 played. Princeton, West Point, Annapolis, Virginia, West Virginia. Villanova (3 games),Dick inson (2 games), George Washing ton, Mount St. Marys, Blooms burg Normal, California Normal, Lebanon Valley, and Beliefonte Academy. Fordham, Manhattan, and Cali fornia Normal administered to State her only defeats, and the latter nine was later on ’trounced 10 to 0 by State’s combination, —which was conceded all over the country to be the best bunch of hitters on the college diamond. With such scores West Point, 13 to 1; Virginia, 13 to 2; Annapolis, 11 to 1; George Washington, 13 to 5; Dickinson, 10 to 2, and 17 to 0, —the exceptional ability of State’s nine with the stick was most vividly demonstrated; while in the Princeton game State’s men opened the eyes of the Tiger very wide indeed, by uncorking nine singles, one double, four triples and a home run. The men of the gridiron now come in for their share of glory, — and right valiantly have they up held State’s previously proud rec ord for 1905, —by fighting manfully for “Old State” and earning 9 vic tories out of 12 games played; Yale, Annapolis and the Carlisle In dians being State’s conquerors, — while Dickinson, W.
