New Instructors, As has been the case for several years past a number of changes are noticed among the faces on the chapel platform. The mathematical department has three new instruc tors: Messers Homer R. Higley, J . W. Beal, Colgate, ’O4, and George A. Wittmore, Harvard, ’O3. Mr. Higley has taken mathematical courses at Harvard and Cornell, and comes here from Stroudsburg with a high reputation as an instructor of exceptional ability. In the depart ment of English Mr. George K. Pattee, Dartmouth, ’O2, is taking the place of Mr. Calkins. F. A. Gorham. ’O5, has taken the position as instructor in the Civil Engineering Department made vacant by the resignation of Mr. Derickson. In the mining department L. B. Smith and R. P. Farrington, both ’O6, will have charge of the work in mineral ogy, and F. A. Dalburg, ’O6, will act as assistant to Mr. Linville in the assaying and Metallurgical work. Captain Lawton as is generally known has been detailed to other duty and the military department will be under command of Captain H. William Hay. The Mechanical Engineering De partment of the College will have two Lehigh men on its teaching force, who will take the places of Assistant Professor L. A. Harding and Mr. W. E. Sanders. Both of these men have had training which will especially fit them for tl eir work in the depaitmcnt. Mr. \7. S. Ayars, M. E., Assistant Pio fessor of Machine Design,graduated in 1899 and at once entered upon duties as sea-going engineer for the International Navigation Company, where he remained for two years.
