J New York Offce, 74 Cortlandt St. A Letter to the Alumni (Continued from 2nd page) meeting it was planned that a short agreement in writing be prepared, and submitted to a few of the members of the Alumni Association, by which a fund of two thousand dollars would be guaranteed. This has been signed, without hesitation by fifteen members of the Association, who have made themselves responsible for two thous and dollars. It of course was not the intention that these fifteen men should pay this two thousand dollars, but your Committee was not satisfied to do any thing until such a sum guaranteed, as they thought that this amount would be required to defray the expenses of our part in the Celebration. At the last meeting in Philadelphia, the following resolution was passed: “Resolved that a subscription, not to exceed $5.00, be solicited from each Alumnus and former student, and that they be asked to remit promptly.” Following out this resolution we urge upon you the importance of sending us your check for the amount that you desire to contribute to this very worthy cause. It is believed now the ex penses will amount to two thousand dollars, and possibly more. We are extremely anxious to have this amount fully subscribed and paid in before Com mencement, and we hope that you will respond freely and promptly. The subscriptions should be sent to L. A. Harding, State College, who has been constituted Treasurer of the Com mittee. We expect to have a good time, but in order to insure this, it will be necessary to have a considerable fund. The careful wording of the reso lution above quoted, is called to your attention; you will observe that it was resolved to solicit' subscriptions not to exceed $5.00. It was not by any means the intention of the Committee to intimate by this resolution, that sub scriptions of more than $5.00 would not be accepted. If by any possibility the fund arising from this source, should exceed the amount of the expenses,* the balance will be turned over to the Treasury of the Alumni Association, to be used for like purposes in the future.
