The Seniors defended the affirmative while the Juniors had the negative. " Owing to the sudden illness of C. T. Wade the Sophomores lost to the Freshmen by default. The Freshman team composed of H. H. Hanson, A. H. Miller, and F. Z. Moore, in turn lost to the Seniors by default and conse quently the Seniors carried off the prize of twenty-five dollars offered by Dr. Atherton. FOr the second annual Dickinson—State Debate, to be held at Carlisle this session, the following men have been selected to rep resent State:--H. P. Wood, '99; W. H. Thomson, '99; L. M. Reno, 'ox; and D. E. Wentzell, 'oo, as alternate. C. F. Buckholtz has been secured to coach the track team for the remainder of the term commencing May I; up to that time the team will be in charge of Captain G. M. Norman, and A. C. Pollock. In the Relay Races to be held at University of Penn's, Phila delphia, April 29, State is classed with Cornell, Columbia, Lehigh,. and Lafayette. A force of eight or ten students have been at work at the ri x periment Station mailing the Report of 1897 of the College and Station. During vacation the Armory received some repairs . , the Ladies' reception room having been refurnished and the front doors fixed. The College library was kept open during the Easter vacation for the convenience of students, many of whom remained at the College; The Junior Hop Committee is composed of the following men:—. A. C. Pollock, chairman; B. C. Brady; D. S. Morgan; D. R. Wentzel; W. A. Krebs; and W. T. Dimm. The Easter Dance, usually given by the Senior Class, was held on April 14. it was a non-class affair and the committee having it, in charge was:—Chairman, A. C. Pollock, 'oo; J. Neubert, '99; W. B. Finley, '99; C. A. Randolph, 'oo; D. S. Miller, 'oo; G. E. Guy, 'oo; and A. S. Schoffstall, 'oo. Owing to the recent illness of Dr. L. M. Colfelt, his lecture on " Savonarola," which was to have been given before the Woman's- Club this month, has been postponed.
