THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION THE Secretary and Historian of this Association frequently receive statements from members indicating that a wrong conception of the organization prevails in their minds, which there is no convenient opportunity to correct. The Asso ciation was organized " to promote fraternal feeling and to facili tate intercourse with each other." It also aims to aid the College in advancing its interest, and has ,a representation of three mem bers constantly upon the Board of Trustees. All " bona fide graduates of the College " are eligible to membership, and it has been the custom of the Association to elect, at its annual meeting in June, the graduating class in Coto. It is assumed that every graduate will desire to connect himself with the organization and cheefully aid in its efforts. It is now fast becoming a strong body capable of doing good work for the College and it is earn estly hoped that it will promptly assert its power in favor of this thriving institution. While the Association has a constitution to be subscribed to by its members, it has never been insisted upon, so that probably one-third of the members have not signed it though they cheer fully maintain their connection with the Association. It may be seen, therefore, that it is essentially a voluntary organization in which there is no formal initiation, no resignation of membership, no compulsory payment of dues, and no imposition of fines. The " Alumni Record " is published by the Association for the benefit of its members. It involves much uncompensated labor on the part of the Historian, and is a growing expense to the organiza tion. It is hoped that every student of The Pennsylvania State Col lege who has received the Bachelor's degree through her Presi dent will not only claim the rights and privileges of a member of her Alumni Association but will also regard it as his or her duty to maintain a lively interest in the College and her graduates by active membership in the Alumni Association. A committee of the Association has now under consideration a THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
