1896.] Our prospects are very bright for a winner, as we lose but two men by graduation. The remainder of the present team, with this year's experience, and with the help of a number of promis ing foot ball men who contemplate entering in the Pall, will bring State into prominence such as she has enjoyed in previous years. VACATION is near at hand. The results of the foot ball season are still fresh in our minds. Are we not going' to benefit by the experience of the session ? Now is the time to do missionary work; let every student—yea, even those up higher—take a catalogue and go to work. If you are not already posted upon the distinc tive features and numerous benefits of a career at this institution, post yourself ere the session is over. This vacation will be the proper time to lay before a prospective neophyte all* the proper inducements. He will then have plenty of time for preparation, and sound preparation, for the coming Fall. Remember next year—with your new student and yours—we are going to have a winning foot ball team, and in all respects a banner year. WHY is it, we wonder, that the college hops are not better at tended by the students ? The Thanksgiving Assembly is a good example, although the number present is a fair average for previous years. Just bear in mind that the dances are not given for the amuse ment of the class having them in charge, for there is plenty of work connected with them, besides giving each member of the class an opportunity of reaching far into his pocket-book to make up for the deficiencies which might just as well have been sup plied by his fellow students; these hops are given to the students as a means of forgetting their college troubles for one evening and enjoying themselves in a legitimate and wholesome manner. With but three dances a year, it does seem as though the students might take sufficient interest in their college to en courage and support this which should form a most important part of a college man's education. If the present state of affairs continues the class hops at State will soon be a thing of the past. And then what a howl would be raised! We never appreciate good things until we are deprived of Editorial.
