The prospect for a successful season in base ball this coming spring is quite good. It is reported some twenty-five or thirty students have handed in their names as candidates for the first team. When the new cage is ready, look out for some phenomenal developments. The Seniors have astronomy under Lieut. Wolfe this term. Some are lamenting the fact there are not more girls in their class. And others are deploring their lot that it is not the Spring term instead. Some Fresh man may be foolish enough to ask what girls and Spring time have to do with as tronomy. Miss Mary Foster has been entertaining her friend Miss Sue McCay, of Fredericks- burg, 0., for several weeks. The Freshmen Class have added a new member to their class in the person of Miss Camp, a sister of Walter M. Camp " 91." We copy the following astonishing article from the FREE LANCE. 1950—Wonderful and startling discovery.—A man, a graduate of P. S. C. who can speak French. The Vesta Club were startled the other day by hearing the following conversation : Ist Soph.—" A vez-vous les Apple buttosn auf deises weges ?" zd Soph,—" Non monsieur, da ist nicht en de la plate." This is the first time a student of P. S. C. was ever known to speak good French. The following are the names of the students who declaimed at the exhibition rhetorical exercise : Gilkes, A. G. McKee, Stephenson, Crawford, Williams, Fay, Girvin, Gross and Birdsall, During the performance the audi ence was treated to a piano solo by Miss Wy man and to several songs by the College Glee Club and the Harmonic Quartette, On January Itth, growing need of a Gym nasyum was very forcibly illustrated, Exuber ant spirits (it is hardly possible any other kind of spirits were present), and strong activity so exerted their power as to force a number of students out at the, ghostly hour of midnight to indulge in a game of foot ball by moon-light. We did not hear the parti culars of the game; but it is said the results were seen scattered around the campus next morning. The W. L. S. expect to go into a session Congress, Friday evening, January 17. They will begin at the organization of the House and take it step by step and continue the session as long as it seems best for the good of the Society. There is a chance here for such broad and deep research for receiving practical knowledge and a thorough understanding of government that the utmost interest should be taken in it by all the members.
