How to Makk CiniaAST Wivk. As this 13 the scroti when wiue-uiakins; U the orlor of the -by, aJ as currant:- are now fully ripo.neJ, we subjoin the foilow irv recipe. The mole of manufacture is simple, an 1 is highly recommended by those who h tve tried it : The currants should be fully ripe when picked. Put them into a large tub, in which they may remain a day or so ; then crush them with the hands, utiles you have a small patent cider press, iu which they should not be pressed too much or the stems will be bruised and impirt a disagreeable taste to the juice, it', the hands are used, put the crushed fruit, af ter the juice ha3 been poured off, in a cloth or s ick and press out the remaining juice. Put the juice back iu the tub after cleansing it. where it should remain for about three days, until the first stages of fermentation are over, and removing once or twice a clay the scum copiously arising to the top. Then put the juice into a vessel a demijohn, keg or barrel of a size to suit the quantity to be made, and to each quart of juice add three pounds of the best brown sugar, and water suflicient to make a gallon. Thu, ten quarts of juice and thirty pounds of sugar will give you ten gallons of wine and so on iu pro portion. The cask must be full, and the bung or stopper left off until fermentation ceases, which will be iu twelve or fifteen days. Meantime the cask must be filled up daily with water, as fermentation throws out the impure matter. When fermentation ceases rack the wine off carefully, cither by the spigot or by a syphon, and keep running all the time. Cleanse the cask thorough-H ly with boiling water, then return the wine, bung up tightly, and let it stand for four or five mouths, when it will be fit to drink, and can be bottled if desired. All the vessels, casks, &c, should be perfectly sweet, and the whole operation should be done with an eye to cleanliness. In such event, every drop of brandy or other spiritous liquor added will detract from the flavor of the wine, and will not in the least degree increase its keeping qualities. Currant wine made in this way will keep for an age unless drunk. Hard ox Jersey. Some years ago, it is said, a party was travelling in a stage through the Jersey pines, and saw in the distance what they supposed was the frame of a log house. On approaching, howev er, they found it to be the skeleton of a mosquito which had starved to death, the skin having fallen from the bones ! B, Motto for the times Advertise. Sane- Vwu. tlfin.'.l hv the highest medical authorities, both in Eurone and the United States, and rrescribed in their practice. The experience of thousands daily proves that no preparation of Iron can be compared with it. Impurities of the blood, depression of vital energy, pale and otherwise sickly complexions, indicate its necessity in almost every conceivable case. Innoxions in all maladies'in which it has been tried, it has proved absolutely curative in each of the following complaints,- viz : In DcLilHj, Xervous JJfecC'f.ng, Emaciation Jjytpepsia, C"nistijation, lharrhaa. Dysentery. Incipient Consumption, Scrofulous Tuberculosis iall lihevM, jjitiiieitsirvauun, nuts, sis, Liver Complaints, Chrome Headaches, unev mni:sm. iniermiucM Ttvers. j. unvi.it on .. ... . W ' ' 1 - . , 4 h. . Face. etc. In cases of General Debility, whether the result of acute diseases, or of the continued diminution of nervous and muscular energy from chronic complaints, on trial of this re storative has proved successful to an extent which no description nor written attestation would render credible. Invalids so long bed ridden as to have become forgotten iu their own neighborhoods, have suddenly reappeared in the busy world as if just returned from pro tracted travel in a distant land. Some very signal instances of this kind are attested of female sufferers, emaciated victims of appa rent marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, crit ical changes, and that complication of nervous and dyspeptic aversion to air and exercise for which the physician has 110 name. In Xervfivs Affections of all kinds, and for reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of this preparation of iron must necessarily be salutary, for, unlike the old oxides, it is vigo rously tonic, without being exciting and over heating; and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most obstinate cases of costiveness, without ever being a gastric purgative, or in flicting a disagreable sensation. It is this latter property, among others, which makes it so remarkably effectual and perma nent a remedj for 1'ilrs, upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing the local tendency which forms them. In Dyspepsia, innumerable as are its causes, a sinjrle box of these Chalybeate Pills has of ten sufficed for the most habitual cases, inclu dir.g the attendant costiveness. In unchecked Diarrhoea, even when advanced to Dysentery, confirmed, emaciating, and appa rently malignant, the effects have been equally decisive and astouishing. In the local pains, loss of flesh and strength, debilitating cough and remittent hectic which generally indicate Incipient Consumption, this reined- has allayed the alarm of friends and physicians, in. several very gratifying and in teresting instances. In tScr'fitlous Tuberculosis this medicated Iron has had far more than the good effect of the moit cautiously balanced preparations of iodine, without any of their well known lia bilities. The attention of females cannot be too con fidently invited to this remedy and restorative, in the cases peculiarly affecting them. In Rheumatism, both chronic and infiamato ry in the latter, however, more decidedlj- it has been invariably well reported, both as alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stiluiess ol the joints and muscles. In Jntermittetit Fevers it must necessarily be a great remedy and energetic retorative.and its progress in the new settlements of the West, will probably be one of h;t;h renown and use fulness. No remedy has ever been discovered in the whole history of medicine which exerts such prompt, happy and fully restorative ef fects. Good appetite, complete digestion, rap id acquisition of strength, with an unusual disposition for active and cheerful exercise immediately follow its use.
