Persons from New Madrid report that several rebel transports and gunboatscame up within range of our Riddle Point bat teries on Wednesday, and opened fire, but were compelled to retreat atter a short en gagement. The Grampus is the only rebel gunboat above our blockade, which is con stantly on the alert watching our move• ments at New :Madrid.
