Rollers of glass for glazing cotton and other cloth are now manufactured in the following manner: A cylindrical iron mould of a diameter and length corres ponding to the roller is provided. A pis ton constituting its bcittom is fitted in this mould, and it has a rod extending upward and held in guides. The piston rod con stitutes the core of the mould. and a fun nel is secured on the top. The piston is pushed nearly to the top of the mould be fore commencing to pour in the molten glass, and it is gradually depressed as the ~ ,l ass is poured In, until the whole cylinder is filled. and the roller is thus cast. It is stated that a perfectly sound casting of glass is obtained in this mentor. The roller is then annealed in an oven, and afterwards placed upon a spindle and turned in a lathe. It is polished by apply ing Venetian red powder to its surface with a concave piece of wood covered with felt. Episcopal Visitation. Right Rev. Wm. Patrick Clare also called on us yosterday, to contradict (what we had not alleged) the statement that he belongs to tlie crowd, and also to say that William Wiseman is not n member of the gang. Having mentioned the names of the party, we give them the benefit of this disclaim er, without altering our statment of facts as published yesterday. On Saturday last a son of Captain Irwin Red path, of Sail's Pennsylvania Cavalry, to which he belonged, wasshot through the left thigh by the accidental discharge of a pistol in the hands of a companion who was loading the weapon. The ball also passed through the left arm of the parts , holding the weapon, inflicting a flesh wound. The surgeon of the corpsextract ed the hall from Redimth's wound. Red path is about seventeen years of age. March 27—SEs.m.—The joint resolution for the aid of the States in case of emancipation was taken up. Mr. Henderson. of Mo., said he felt dis posed to vote for the resolution. A strong objection was made to it on the border States, on the ground that it was an at• tempt to abolish slavery in the border States and then in the other States. There was surely no such intention on theimrt of the President, and he thought none on the part of members of the &mate. Although the agitation of the slavery question was the cause of the rebellion there were other interests in the State of Missouri. They were deeply interested in having the Mississippi river kept free to the mouth. Ile had opposed all agitation of the slavery question. Ile had opposed the bill for the abolition of slavery in the Distreit of Columbia, not because he considered it unconstitutionahbut because it was not ex pedient to bring the subject up for discus sion. The South has been annually fright ened by some story of the abolition master yet if Congress should abOlish the petty amount of slavery in the District, he did not suppose hiS State would secede; but he hoped that the Senators were determ ined to do this thing; be would be quick or the great State of Delaware will be getting a peep behind the curtain, and, discover ing an awful plot to emancipate the few slaves already nearly free, and she might go South fur her constitutional rights ; The Senators from Kentucky Were get ting excited, and those from Maryland were growing suspiciOus of some dreadful thing to happen. He had been opposed , to the bill for the cultivation of the cotton lands, 'though he supposed the measure , was a harmless one. let he feared that it might have a bad effect on the border States, and hence voted against it, yet if the statement was true, that slavery was the corner stone of the govereruent, he would be willing to fight to the last with the North against any such government. Nothing would tempt him , Uwever, to raise hiq hand against:4W government, and all the right of revolution he wanted was the ballot box. He did not think that more than 50,000 slavei were left in ?Cs souri, large numbers haring been taken South: He thought the people of that State hadloet property equal in value to the whole. amount of the slaves et the com mencement of the war.
