SuppEN DEATH ~Our community was startled on last Sabbath morning bv the announcement of the death of Mr. Wm. Keller, an old and respected citizen of Potter twp., and a member of the board of county commissioners, in which position he had shown so great deyotion to the interests of the county. Mr, K's death was caused by heart dis- ease, to which he had been subject, and of which he had an attack on Saturday morning previous to his death, which followed on the next morning, about 11 o'clock. His funeral, on last Tues- day morning was one of the largest ever witnessed at Centre Hall. Fur ther particulars will be found in our obi column. As this death causes a vacancy in the board of commissioners, the same will be filled by an appointment to be made by the court and balance of the board at once. Mr. Keiler was the outgoing member of the hoard. The following particulars of the, death of a son of Mr. Benj. Herring of Lock Haven, we copy from the Clin- ton Republican. For the Reporter. Yy In Memory. William Keller died on Sunday April 24 1870, aged 58 yoars. Aftera lon~, u ef 1 life, le has gone to the silent tomb, Hi, heart which once beat with life, and love a nd hope, has now ceased its throbbings, and is still and cold. His was that mild, cheerful, generous disposition, which al” ways wins many warm frien ls, For many years he has been an active member of the German Reformed church, always mani- festod a deep interest in the cause of Christ, and was a highly respected member of society ; but now his spirit has flown to a more con genial elime, where it will shine with unfading loveliness among the ran- somed people of God. How sad to look upon the old homestead where a large group used to gather, but from which near- ly all have wandered, some to another world, others borne by winds and waves todistant lands. But thus it is with every home—the fondest ties must be broken, the brightest hopes must fade, and those only, who have dwelt in the house of mourning, know how sad the heart feels under such bereavements, how lonely and desolate ‘every thing seems after a visit from the last enemy. The widow of Mr K., who mourns with a sore heart for him who was so unexpected- ly severed from her embrace, the children who feel that the parent stem from which they grew, has been shattered, torn down by the hand of death, need only weep tor him, as for one whose cares and sorrowg arenow all o'er, whose tears are forever washed away and who dwells safely at home—sweet home in heaven, STARLIGHT. On 2nd of April, in Vanango county, Mrs. Mary M. Slocum, aged 44 years The deceased was a sister of Mr. William Keller, whose abituary stands above. The Lewistown Gazette says there are about 102 colored voters in Mifflin county, ten of whom are Democrats. NEW YORK MARKET, Wheat—No 2 spring 1 09al1 13; winter red and amber western at 1 23 al 35.
