ir'Oing of she Board of illanotreer of the Alle

The first fair (or the pc - reborn and Nile of stock
ever held in Allegheny County, took place last
Tuesday, under the superintendence of the Board
of Managers of the Allegheny County Agricultural
Association, who met at the Emmet Howe, at nine
John McCloskey, Esq., of Robinson Township,
was called to the Chair, and Christian Snively, of
Wilkins Township, was appointed Secretary.
The following gentlernen were present:—Messrs.
Murdoch, Way, Carnahan, McGill, McCloskey,
Garrard, &lively, McCabe, Cooper, Kelly, Hutt.
and McCaslin.
After the transaction of some unimportant hose
s, the meeting adjourned to the West Commons
of Allegheny, where the fair took place.
The day was an exceedingly fine one, and a
very• large number of farmers were in attendance
from many of the neighboring counties, as well no
our own. ft would be, of course, impossib e
to
give an accurate account of all the stock on the
ground, so we merely subjoin a fist of that portion
which seemed to elicit the warmest praise from the
farmers who were present.

James McAllen, Ross Township, twoewes, two

There were very few swine on the ground
though those which were there were of choice vs
neties.
Two fine two yeat.old colts, belonging to Capt.
John Young, of Itobinsou Township, nuracted
universal admiration. They were sired by Captam
Hunter's famous grey •Arabian. which was recent
ly burned to death in Washington City, the livery
stable in which it was, having beep set un Gre.
The first sale made on the ground was erected
by John Boyle, Of Indiana. who disposed of a fine
row and ralf, at thirty dollars, and in all the
tales which we noticed, the cattle brought fait
priers.
A number of Agricultural implements were on
the ground. We would notice in particular a. "wind
mill," for screening wheat, the property of Golonel
William Reddick, of Uniontown. which semued to
us one of the be we had ever seen.
Mr. Melibenny, of Shaler Township, exhibited a
thrashing machine, admirably adapted to the pur.
pose for which it is designed.
Mr. King, n fine .trnw cutting machine.
As this was the first attempt in this county to get
up en exhibition of this kind, it may be considered
a very creditable affair, and should encourage to a
coritinuatiou of future efforts to promote a spirit of
improvement and emulation among our farmers.
