ROBINSON, Tree.uivr. Seldom has it fallen to the lot of your Managers to present to the Society their Annual Repoß, with such unmingled gratitude, exultation, and joy, ns they experience at the present moment. That the number of Orphans is greater than at any former period, and that they have been blessed with health during the past year, need hardly bo communicated in words. as one glance at those happy, intelligent faces, will show the welfare sad the increased rise of the family, more forcibly than the most eloquent harangue, . Three of the children are in the tenderest infan cy and appeal to your sympathy', in their helpless ness and dependence. Thus early deprived of a mother's guardianship, where could they look for rustenance and care, if in .rtiparsion for their des motion, your fostering arms were not extended to enfold them. There are forty two Orphans now under the rare at the Managers; and two boys have been placed in suitable kntlies, during the year. The additional children, and the expenses incurred by having two of the babes at nurse, will demand a proportionate increase in the disbursement of the Society; but your Managers feel too confident of the public liberality. and too well ensured of the goodness of the cause in which they are engaged. to hesitate as to the propriety al receiving any of these helpless ones; and if the game interest con. time that has formerly been shown, these little claimants of your bounty, will not plead in vain. The highly responsible mutation of matron, en which the comfort of the Institution so much de pends, is held by Mrs. Price, who possesses kind. nest activity, and fidelity. Mrs. McConnell the late valuable teacher, resigned her office a short time previous to her death; it is hoped that her successor, Miss Todd, will prove as well qualified and estimable. The religions instnietion of the children him been promoted by the kind exertions of several gentlemen who meet at the Asylum on Sabbath evening for that purpose, than affording a Peening proof of their Christian benevolence. The managers have been gratified from time to time, by hearing of the prosperity and well doing of the Orphans after they have left the asylum; and one or them has lately sent a letter to Mrs. Robinson containing some original poetry espys • of his gratitude to her, for her many IL-md se.,sn to him, while in the lustitutionr he probe}, ably will never make a poet, but it is pleasant to find him possessed of a grateful heart, that can appreciate past favors. Beside* the children bound to the Society, there have been many admitted in a more transient manner as boarders, thus increasing facilities for' doing good at a small ex. tenditure, and aiding a clam which may suffer from neglect if not from destitution. If time per. tattled it would be interenttng in mention some or the instances in which the Asylum has been select. ed as a place of refuge for friendless One of these little ones, who was diseased before he entered the place, died early last month. bin (other, however, bore wanes in the kindness with which he had been treated, and rattly appreciated the value of the arrangement. The orphan children of Ixtth sexes, forty rive of whom were present, sung a hymn. The Rev.
