BARBEL J. ...ROTHE., Orrice PITTSBURGH GARCUTS. Saturday Morning, Sept. 16 1548. The markets yesterday were generally without animation, and the salmi, which were limited, showed little, if any imporynt change in any arti cle, with the exception °flour, which is decided,. ly on the decline. The weather, since the rain, has become quite cool. The river is beginning to swell a little, and we think there is a prospect of a rim of some one Of lOW feet; by which happy result, business will revive again, and the busy fall trade will take the place of the general lethargy which has prevailed in the market, owing to the low stage of water. Very hula freight is passing through at present. Owing to the anticipated rise, there seems to be a general holding back of freights for lower rates. PLUM—The receipts yesterday were light, and as a good portion of it was designed for east ere shipment, very little was left, to operate upon• Qom fug hands. Sates of a few limited lots were effected at the river et 41 , 9 505.5# bbl. Sales from store were light, and ranged from 5,25 to 5,37 p bbl. Correspondenee of the Pittsburgh contra. b31 . L.0,11-LIL Sept. 14 The great Telegraph Cane Address of Mr. o'. Reilly to the people of Kentucky, is pal:dished in the Journal and Courier of this morning. The Con. rier has e 1111'011R article on the subject, from which the following is an extract .Our readers will see that despite of the has mense field, Judge Monroe thought proper to cov. er in his singular judgment on the motion for a n injunction against Henry O'Reilly and others— Mr. O'Reilly's line to New Orleans will not sus. pend its operations; we are glad to find that this is the case, for we think that this suit involves a larger amount of public interest than any thing that has been brought before the Western Court for many years. We have not the slightest dis trust as to the ultimate decision of the case. We feel just as sure of seeing the whole judgment of Judge Monroe overthrown, as we do of anything-, if his views are correct, then all christendom is in the wrong, and we cannot bring ourselves to think that Judge Monroe is alone in the right. The whole article io the Courier is in the same strong tone.— Mr. O'Reilly's address states: That so far from stopping operations on this New Orleans line, work will go forward more ra pidly than ever, He will lay aside the Columbian telegraph in Kentucky, for the present, and will use the new Kentucky telegraph, mode on par. pose to meet the emergency. Mr. OR. and his as sociates are chartered by the Kentucky Legislature for making this line to New Orleans Nearly 700 miles of that line is now working, and the whole 1000 miles will be in successful operation in a kw weeks. He says he can arrange twenty different sorts of telegraphs, and every one of them will be worked before any part of that or any other line he has constructed, shall be delayed for a single day. The Southerly portion of the O'Reilly line is now working from New Orleans to Baton Row.. and the Northerly section is working from Loma vile to Nashville, Tuscumbia, Menipb.s, and Holly Springs. The wiring will soon be finished between Tuscumbia and Baton Rouge, and then the light. ning will flash freely between New Orleans .d the Western and Northern cities by the O'Reilly lines It will be about as easy to catch a streak of lightning as to stop the operations of these lines. 75 - Calicos and Gnilchams; 44 " Alp:mess and Lyonese Cloths; 27 Bales Red.
