Both I'hones REVUE OF ORPHEUM BILL Jules Verne's Story, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Is Well Told ih Film A gratlfylngly large audience was on hand yesterday afternoon and evening to witness the initial show ing at the Orpheuin Theater of the Him production founded on Jules Verne's novel, "Twenty Thousand leagues Under the Sea." which holds the boards for the entire current week, at the local playhouse. ITuring the unfolding of the won derful tale of adventure, the audience is taken on a marvelous trip along the bed of the ocean and tropical seas, he scenes are beautiful. Fath oms under the rolling waves, the au dience Is lead among the coral and sponge beds, coming face to face with • many monsters of the hitherto un known deep. Gigantic man-eating sharks peer out of the screen at an astounded audience. Divers are shown on a hunting expedition along the bed of the ocean. In one scene, a huge oetupus is seen to attack a native pearl diver who is rescued only after he has lost consciousness. The story itself follows very close ly the lines of Jules Verne's weird tale of the early 50's. is well told and well acted by a capable cast. The submarine views were made possible through the recent invention of the Williamson Brothers. Krnest and George, and the photography is wonderfully clear considering the handicaps encountered.
