MARKET MAKES NEW DULL RECORD Changes in Quoted Values Al most Utterly Devoid of Actual Importance New York, Aug. 5. —To-day's two hour market session established a new record for absolute stagnation since the reopening o£ the exchange in De cember, 1914. , Transactions in the first hour, with many icpresentatlve issues altogether omitted, barely totaled 20,000 shares, and the last hour was equally apathetic. Attendance of traders was at a mini mum and commission houses might as well have suspended operations, changes in quoted values were almost utterly devoid of actual importance. News of the day, aside from the car strike situation, had little bearing upon market conditions. Local tractions moved variably, Third Avenue rising 1%, while Brooklyn Transit lost a point. The closing was firm. Bonds were irregular.
