O. O'Brine, steam fitter and plumber, of 137 Paxton street, this city. With the coming of Spring and the booming of the building and construe taon business, everybody Is looking for the services of a plumber at one time, j and for that reason Mr. O'Brine stales , that It is keeping him real busy trying ' to accommodate all his regular cus- ' tomers as well as handle the new , business which is coming his way. Mr. O'Brine is well known in the plumbing business as well as by the general public of Harrisburg and his services as well as that of his assist ants Is In great demand because he is a little more particular than the aver- : age plumber regarding the way his work is done. When he finishes a job it is finished right and it is not necessary to call in another plumber in a short time to go over any of his work. Anybody who is contemplating the services of a plumber would do well to have Mr. O'Brine figure on the job before letting the contract for the reason that when the work is done by him you are assured that It is perfect in every way.—Advertisement. MODERN BAKING METHODS If it has been ten years or more since you have had the pleasure of vis iting the producing part of the Inside of a bakery, you would not recognize the place to-day. A decade ago most all the work was done by hand—the mixing, the kneading, molding and other parts of the work necessary in the making of bread. Now machinery of almost human intelligence has re placed manual labor, making the bread more sanitary and making the output unlimited and in a thoroughly clean bakeshop. The model and modern making plant of Mr. Schmidt, which is located at the corner of Eighteenth and Holly streets, and known as the Vienna Bakery, is an example of modern bak ing methods. First comes the giant mixer, whose tireless arms will mix and knead a couple of barrels of Hour in the time that it would take to mix a small sack by hand labor. Then there are other deft machines that divide the dough into loaves of exactly the same size and weight, mold it into shape and pass It along to be proofed and baked. Last, but not least, are the ovens, where the heat may be regulated al most to a degree—raised, lowered or maintained for hours, as may be de sired. Controlled conditions are the present-day secrets of success in the baking business. At Mr. Schmidt's Vienna Bakery every Ingredient is carefully weighed or measured, every operation is accurately timed, and par ticular attention is paid to temperature and humidity. All who know the Schmidt brands of bread realize the fact that this bread is made by people who "know how." Mr. Schmidt is a firm believer in giv ing service as well as quality goods to his customers and good materials, good equipment, good workmen and a good spirit are the things that make Schmidt's bread so good. Just --all No 1875 on the Bell phone and get a sample order of this bread and you may take our word for it when we tell you that a trial loaf of this bread will make you one of Mr. Schmidt's thou sands of satisfied customers. —Adver- tisement. UARRISBURt; IA MRKR BOUSES CARRY COMPLETE STOCKS I Harrisburg contractors have to a ! certain extent lost sight of the lumber j situation In this city, according to the j opinion of F. H. Hantzman, the lum- \ ber man. whose yard is located at 660 Briggs street. Although a considerable amount of the building now being done on a ! small scale Is made of lumber pur chased from Harrisburg dealers, many of the larger buildings are being con structed of lumber brought in froir othgr cities. • . Mr. Hantzman claims that almost without exception the Harrisburg lum ber yards are capable of supplying sufficient material to meet every nsed and requirement of the most exacting contractor. "Of course, builders may buy at a [ trifle lower price when they get their j _ lumber from wholesalers," said Mr. ; Hantzman. / "But they are obliged to j buy in carload lots, and above the initial cost must stand the loss which usually accompanies such a consign ment. In addition to that they must pay the expense of hauling the lumber when it is delivered here. "When purchased from Harrisburg dealers, on the other hand, the lum ber, which is of as good quality as may bo had anywhere, is obtainable just aa it is needed and without the trouble and expense of hauling from the curs. So that in the long run contractors who patronize Harrisburg lumber deal- : ers save money and are better satisfied 1 with what they receive." Mr. Hantzman has been in the lum ber business at the same location for | over twenty-four years and with liis j policy of square dealing and conserv- | ative business methods has built up a I very large business in his line. He always has on hand a complete stock of rough and dressed lumber and mill work of every conceivable nature. He has the local agency for Cornell Wood board and has just received a car tor Spring business and would like to have jou call and see what can be accom plished In making a beautiful interior j i with this material at small expense.— ; ! Par-1 | ihemore, the piano dealer at 712, North Third street, lias every reason : ! to be proud of his success. I Mr. Parthemore has been in the 1 j piano business for dver 20 years and ; |by his excellent' management and; careful attention to the wants of the j general public in the music line he has | secured a prominent position among > the music stores of this city. Located as he is out of the high rent district enables him to save a 1 purchaser from SSO to SIOO on a piano player for the reason that the over head expense Is practically nothing compared with the downtown stores, and as he is able to give all of his own time, to the business, thereby do ing away with the expense of clerks I and salesmen, make it possible for ; him to sell a piano or player at a \ greatly reduced price, when compared | with other large and expensive piano j stores. Especially lor the cash—as 1 cash talks here. Now if you are contemplating pur chasing a piano it would certainly pay you to see Mr. Parthemore and have a talk with him, as well as ascertain his extremely low prices, j He will be pleased to furnish you 1 with some valuable information re j garding the purchasing of anything in his line, and will quote you some j i prices on pianos and players that will' I astonish you. Two of the leading lines represented by Mr. Parthemore are the Art-Tone Ahlstrom and the sweet toned Lehr, both of which are to be found among the highest class of pianos on the mar ket, and are particularly noted for their remarkably refined quality of tone. They are the best that money can buy and he would be glad to have the opportunity of telling you the reasons why.—Advertisement.
