The greatest walking match ever held, if time and distance is tconsid ered, came 'to a close od Saturday night last. It lasted six days, and was won by a man named Haezel, who made the unequaled ecore of 600 miles in that time. The other contestants and their ecores were as follows: Fitz gerald 577 miles, Noremac 555, Hart 542, Hughes 535, Sullivan 525. The gate money amounted to $30,000, which will be divided among the six men. b The Prohibitionists are the first in the field in this. State with a ticket. The Democrat of last week has the following compliment for Judge Cook.
