REPU3L!CA?J COUNTY TICKET. For rrothortotary, Vc, . JUSTIS SHAWKEY.' ;., for siicvio: Onpf. O. W. CLARK. . . For Commissioners, . V If. W; LED E HUK, . J. H. HENDERSON"; For Auditors, O. W. WARDEN, - j. A.scorr.'V OUR COUNTY TICKET. More than n week has elapsed oinco " the Republican Prfmaries of- this cjunty took'placo and tho ticket of , tho party placed in the field. During that time we have conversed with many Republicans. from -different parts cf the county and wo have yet to hear one word of complaint or dissatisfac tion with the ticket nominated. They all say it will be supported cheerfully, ' and are firm in the belief that it will bo elected without the loss of a man. A few comments may cot be out of - placa in this connection : FOR FEOTHONOTA RY &C, We have Justis Shawkey, the present efficient incumbent. It seemed almost a foregone conclusion from the start that ho would be re-nominated, and tho unanimity with which he was 6up ' ported fully attests his popularity as a r man and official, showing that the people arc well please with the manner in which ho has performed his duties. ' T'le Frot'ionUry's office under his ad ministration lias been conducted in a superior manner, tho books and rec ords being in a better shape now than they ever were before, as all who have had busines3 there will readily agree. Vv'e have heard it 6taicd frequently, ' that lawyars and business men living out of the county who have done busi- ne33 hero, and who are competent to judge, have said that few offices in the State were better kept than the Pro ; thoisotary's office of Forest county. Our citizens justly feci proud over this and will attest the fame by a hand- some majority for Mr. Shawkey in the 'Novemder election. FOR SHERIFF, We have one of the best and strongest men that could be found ir? tho county, Capt. C. W. Clark, of Tionesta town ship. No man can truthfully eay aught against Capt Clark as a man and citizen. He has always been a , true Republican, never flinching from ' his duty to the party, and performing yeoman service in many a spirited campaign. This be has done through priociple because he loved the prin ciples of the party never with the expectation that his reward would come in the shape of an office. While he has been a war horse in the Re publican party, he .has never made himself obnoxious or incurred the ill- wiil of his political opponents ; on the contrary they admire him lor his straightforward, manly course. As a citizen and neighbor he stands high in the estimation of those in his commu nity, lie is well qualified for the pos ition, being a man tf excellent judg ment, and discretion ; Btern, yet very kiud at heart, and never stubborn. A better man could not be found in the county an assertion in which all his acquaintances will bear us out. Capt. Clark has a brilliant war record, of which we may speak in the future. He is worthy of the support of every Republican in the county, and we have every confidence he will receive it, and be our next Sheriff. I FOR COMMISSIONERS, The lucky numbers were drawn by Henry W. Ledehur of Green, and ?l James S. Henderson of Hickory town- ship. Mr. Ledebur's re-nomination for the office which he has so credita bly filled was bestowed almost unani mously. He is one of the three who have watched over and taken care of the interests of Forest county for the past tbree years, and wo believe it is :he general verdict that during those rears the affairs of the county have y, jeen attended to in a highly eatisfac i ,ury manner to the people. The county ij sinaspleudid condition at present, ;j ind to the judgment aud foresight ofMr, i Leiiebur belongs a good share of the I redit. To place the reins of the h iounty government in the hands of lbrt'0 new men would bo u very unwiee j( ist as all level headed men will admit, ' j -intr-fjr this reason, and the fact that j'j io has leeu tried and not found want i ':, we believe the taxpayers, irre spective of party can vnto for Mr. Lodelmr with a clear conscience and a fueling of safety. We know thd Re publicans will. Mr. Henderson, our other candidate, has been n resident of the county for years. lie is highly respected as a citizen and neighbor by all who know him ; Ftrictly honest in all his dealing?, nud a moral, upright man. Ho owns a fino farm, situate near tho village of Kast Hickory, which ho keeps under an excellent state of cultivation, and on which he has erected substantial buildings. It is possible that he has a little laid away for a rainy day. All this is tho result of years of honest toil, economy and the display of good judgment. Mr. Henderson has shown that he is capable of managing his own business successfully nud can therefore be en trusted with tho affairs of the county ; in fact, is just the kind of a man we want for County Commissioner. A man who looks after his own business carefully will look after tho business of others if it is entrusted io his care. Iu Ledebur and Henderson the Re publicans have ou excellent team, and they will stanJ by them and elect them, FOR AUDITORS, We have two excellent men. Mr. Teo. W. Warden has occupied tho position of book-keeper for Wheeler & Dusen bnry, at their East Hickory mills for the past five years. Ha is a splendid accountant, a perfect gentleman, and is liked by everybody who becomes acquainted with, him. His peculiar fitness for tho position will uot be overlooked by those who know him, regardless of party. Mr. James A. Scott, of Jenks, is pretty well known to tho citizens of our county, having been Cjurt Crier of this county up to last February, when he was summarily ousted not because ho was unfitted, but because he was a Republican. That was bis only crime. As showing his fitness for tho position to which his friends expect to elevate him, we have it from good authority that as clerk to the auditors of his township he has kept tho books and accounts iu a superior man. With Messrs. War den and Soott as Auditors the people can rest assured that tho accounts of the couuty will be carefully looked after. Wo have now gene through with the entire list. If we have made a single erroneous statement wo want some ono to call our attention to the fact and we shall make proper amends. We have no fear, however, of being successfully contradicted. The ticket is a splendid one and everybody knows it. Let us elect it without the loss of a man. cax TUE NATIONAL CAPITOL. Special to the Republican. Washington, D. C, June 25, '81 Secretaris Wiudom and Hunt and Postmaster General Jamea, with sev eral members of their respective farm lies, left the city yesterday for "Long Branch, where tho President and his family are quartered. Attorney Gen eral MacVeigh, who is in Philadel phia, will go down from there to Long Branch. They go to consult with the President, but on uo special business Secretary Windom said befure leaving, Secretary Kirkwood and Secretary Blaine are the only members of the Cabinet in the city. Secretary Blaine will leave the latter part of next week with his lamily for Maine. Secretary Lincoln is now at Long Branch. The organization ofthe noxt House is bo closo that already the leaders o both parties nre looking over the ground und calculating chauce3 fjr success next winter. There has been some talk of a Democratic culmination with the Greenbackers by which tho organization could be taken from tho small Republican majority. The leading Democrats deny this. But even if it should be done, the Demo crats would have to count on every man of thtir number to nut it through. One who is counted as voting with the Democrats will not do so. lie is Representative Emory Speer. of Georgia. Mr. Speer is put down as an independent Democrat, aud the Democrats have, and do suppose that in matters of organization he will vote with them. Let it bo known, however, that Mr. Speer will voto with the Re publicans, and has informed the Pres ident so. Assistant Secretary Upton has gone to Europe. Beibro ho left he left his resignation in the bandi of Secretary Wiudom, to be acted upon as might bo desired by the President and Sec retary. Washington monument is now 200 feet high. It will be liuiahed, weather permitting, in the summer of 18S1, and its height will be 550 feet. Pmi.. Tup. refunding of CI 1 ,000,000 of Pennsylvania indebtedness at a four per cent, interest-bearing bond will bo a test of tho Commonwealth's credit which wo have no doubt whatever will be successfully accomplished. And what a triumph this will be for tho Republican party. It is tho party of liberal wages for workingmeo, and of low down interest for money invested where it pays u taxes and runs no riskf?. Such a political organization, breeding the statesmanship which it docs, is well fitted to control the Gov ern tueu t.larm.H?'i7 Telegraph. England wants tho American gov ernment to suppress Irish-American newspapers, aud send their editors to jail. Was this tho way in which Eng land treated French, German, Hunga rian nnd Italian refugees, when they flod before the storm they had severally aroused in their respective countries? Then tho British government doomed it a rightceus work to give an nsylum to the revolutionists of the world, bo cause revolution on the continent of Europe was profitable to English trade. America desires no such profit from the irruptions in Ireland, nor is she anxious to see revolutions in that part of the British domiuious, but at the samo time our Government will not put a bar ou any man who denounces tyranny anywhere, and criticise au thority for its wrougs. Extraordinary Opportunity fop the Kelier or the Afflicted. Dr. IIartrnan, the, well .known Ocu ist, Aurist nnd Orthopedic Surgeon, will visit and stop at the Central louse, Tionesta, Pa., for 4 days from the morning of July 20, to the evening of July 23, '81. He will have with lim a complete outfit of Surgical ap pliances and apparatus', &c, and will be fully prcpaerd to treat all cases of Paralysis, Deformities of tho head, body and limbs. Diseased Joints, Clubbed Feet, Diseased Eyes, Cata ract, Piles, Fistula, Stammering, C hronic Diseases, &c. No esses will be undertaken without a fair hopo of relief. Iu consequence of the great expeuse of such a trip ho will not make another; therefore, ell who wish to avail themselves of his great skill and experience without visiting his Pitts burgh Office, must do so at this time, For Illustrated Journal call at your Post Office.
