"Capernaum and tho Great Physician" was the subject of a very inluiesting discourse by C W. Granger at the Christian Cbnrch Sunday morning. Mark 2. 1 -5. The sermon opened with a short description of the city in the time of the Saviour. It bad many attractions that made it a desirable place of residence. So tax as the money-changer, the custom-house keeper ooul J see its prosperity was assured and permanant. But Jesus said, "And thou Capernaum which art exalted to heaven shalt be brought down to hell." IX we need any stronger proof of the divinity of ChtUt than in the fulfillment of this prophe sy Tbe very site of the city is a matter o conjecture. Christ is associated with this city as tbe Great Healer. Four men bring tbs paralytic. Note their perseverance. They cannot get in at tbe door the old, old story the crowd, the world keeping people away from the Christ. The take him up the stairway no easy thing to carry a sick roan to tbe roof of the house. They break op the roof and let him down before Him. He is healed. No one was healed who did not come Into contact with tbe Healer. Tbe paralytic, the Syropbinicians daughter the suffering woman must needs loach I lie bem or His garret nt. So it is to d-iy. They that would be healed must come into contact, with the Healer through faith. Faith is not an intangible somethiqg without sight, sound or substance. A faith that you could see would fill this c'lurch and every other churcirin town twice every 8unday. There were' four happy men in Capernaum that day besides the paralytic Paralysis of the soul ail around you walking paralysis. Are yon discouraged if vou ask a man to come to church and he refines ? Try ag&in. Get three others to help you. Bring him to the Christ ; and your face will wear the look of a hapy man, yon will know the joy of laughter, and the deeper joy of tears. M.
