'The authorities "everywhere, are making a vigorous onslaught on all canines caught running at large unmuzzled. Have wc a dog ordinance upon our statute books? If so, let the authorities here see to it at once that it is vigorously enforced, before we arc called upon to record a case of hydrophobia. Personal. Mr. G. Southcimcr paid a flying visit to his many friends in this sec tion last week. . Adjourned Court. - An adjourned Court was held at the Court House, in tliis borough, on Monday last, June 12th, present Hon. S. S.' Dreher, President Judge, and John De Young, and . Theodore Schochj-Esqg., Associates. The first matter before the Court, was the case of Thomas A. Bell vs. the Corongh of Stroudsburg. The circumstances of this case are about as follows. In the course of his business as a Banker the plaintiff became pos sessed of certain checks, or evidences of indebt' ediicss, issued by the borouch. Payment on these was demanded, but refused because of waul of funds. . Suits were then brought be fore a Justice of the Peace, and judgments ob tained. , Upoa these Executions were issued and served.to which Council paid no attention, for the simple reason that the Tax lovy, from which only the debt could be paid, was ex hausted. This, under legal manipulation, is construed into a contempt of the majesty of law, as centered in the execution, and for this contempt the Plaintiff seeks redress ; which the Court grants in shape of a rule upon the Burgess and the Town Council, to show cause, why an attachment shall not issue against them. It may not be out of place to state.that MISCELLANEOUS. There are 90,000 Bhcotnakers in Penn sylvania. Lehigh county v has a pond containing 40,000 or 50.000 trout.
