The Mary Davage will have her repairs finished to-day, and will leave for St. Louis to-morrow. Her barges are at Steuben ville taking out nails. The Glendale, Capt. Hare, is filling up steadily for St. Louis and the I.TpperMis sissippi, and the Kate Robinson, Captain Robinson, is announced for Cincinnati and Louisville. . The splendid side-wheel packet J. N. McCullough, Capt. Moore, leaves Thursday at 12 m. for Cincinnati and Way points. To persons going that way a fine _oppor tunity is presented. Business on the landing was dull— freights being scarce to all-points: The river continues to fall, the Monon gahela marks indicating four ' feet six inches. 'loxes reported raining at Oil City yesterday. This may bring a• rise in the Allegheny. 4 Several steamers are between this port and Wheeling, including the R. C. Gray and Wheeling. Tuesday's Cincinnati Commercial says: The Maggie Hays and Alice V., from Pitts burgh, Armadillo, from St. Louis, were the only departures outside of the daily 'packets. The St. Charles, fot Pittsburgh, was the only departure outside the local packets. The Maggie Hays departed for St. Louis full,of freight and people. The Emma No. 3 will. arrive from St. Louis to day on her way to Pittsburgh. . Business was very, dull along the levee yesterday, as Is usually the-case on Mon day. - One-half of thegatoma has been sold at Memphis:.to Captain Tarries Lee for $4,500. She will be laid up fora few weeks and undergo a thorough overhauling, i pre paratory .to resuming, her place n the. Friar's Point trade. The Charles Bowen arrived from the Kanawha yesterday, with seven barges of cannel coal, one barkbout, one corn-boat, and two wood-boats.. The Bowen returns to-day with a tow of_iiine empty barges. ' NASHVILLE, April 27.—River rising with thirteen feet on Harpeth Shoals. - Rain:thls morning but clear to-night. Arrived— Tyrone, from Cairo. In port—Umpire, W. White and Tyrone, • ST. LOUIS, April 27.—The river is falling here quite rapidly—eight inches _per day. All the upper rivers continue declining, with a fair stage of water in each. The lists of steamboat arrivals and departures continue liberal, imparting a busy aspect to the wharf. The total number of arrivals of steamers during the past forty-eight hours was.eighteen, comprising seven from ' the Upper Mississippi, two from the Lower Mississippi, one from the Missouri, four from the Illinois, and four from the Ohio. The Messenger passed on to Pittsburgh af ter a short delay. The Importer was load ed to her guard's. The Leonidas brought a full trip of freight as passengers. Tuesday's Cincinnati Gazette says . : Capt. A. Q. Ross is In the city. He aims that members of Congress appear to be 'exceed ingly ignorant of the perils of river naviga tioM • One member that he conversedwith thought that if a boat or tivo was a 100 feet wide. a bridge span of 150 feet would be ample. No accounts is taken of the effects of cross currents, &c. He also states that our Representatives will be governed in their action and influence by the recent ac tion of the'.. Cincinnati Chamber of Com merce,"favoring a 500 feet span of bridges. The steamer Westmoreland,' Captain E. Evans, was announced to leave Cincinnati for New Orleans on Tuesday evening. The St. Charles, Capt. Draw, left Cincinnati for, this port on Monday evening with 'a fine trip. So says the Cincinnati papers. The Dubuque Herald, of Saturday, says: The Sheridan cleared for St. Louis Thurs day night with one of the heaviest trips of the season. • She arrived here with 7,000 sacks of grain on her, and took from here a barge containing 2,000 sacks • and 100 bar rels of flour, about 'all the freight she wanted, and departed, drawing . four and a feet of water. The Vicksburg Times says the "cham pion" Robt. E. Lee has made her last 'Vicksburg trip for the present, and. that her future movements had not been deter mined. The ,Governor Allen is running in her pplace. jltis not improbable that the Lee will be posted for St. Louis, under the direction of Captain John W. Cannon.. The Times says the. Mississippi remained at Vicksburg repairing boilers. The insig nificant loss of a few hours is far prefer able to a boiler explosion, or even the risk of having one. The Dora is on her way to ' Pittsburgh from Now Orleans, loaded • nearly to her guards. The Vicksburg. Times says: "Captain Tom Loathers thinks the Quitman is second in point of speed to no boat plying the waters of the Missis 'sippi river, alWays excepting . the ack nowledged 'champion." Captain-Tdm.To bin, with 'the famous Pargoud,' will have to be on the look out text Saturday, for the 'war horse' will bevery apt to come up the coast in a hurry unless she has a big trip of freight; and that will be something very i in probable." The Memphis Appecit actually „says that Captain DeHaven's earnest efforts in try ing to reduce the cost of transportation on the Father of Waters by building a steamer of large capacity, and at the same tithe economizing labor; etc., will make the Captain's name immortal.
