PITTSBURGH. dKot Salt, BIRD CAGES. —The cottTicla employed in the batne gbop of (bo Auburo Prison broke out in rebellion against their keepers about 4 o’clock on Saturday P. M. The immediate caaso -of the outbreak was ihe attempt of one of tbo keepers of the prlgoo to lake a colored convict by the name of Wa. H. Crasar from ibe shop for tho parposo of panbh* inghim Tor refusing to perform bis regular labor. The cotjvic. was taken'by keoper Hubbard to Lho dungeon, and as the keeper woe about un locking it «ho negro darted away and made for the liam« shop, pursued by a convict attaohed to ihe ; wiog, and keepot Ilabbard. The negro entered the chop first, and as his keeper came in, principal keeper 8. 8. Aubild, who was in the shop at tbo time, advised Mr. Pnbbard to allow ibe negro lo remain for a few hours until he bad got ever ihe exci'rraoDi. This ooourred at II o'clock A. M. Tbe oonviot was allowed to remain In tbo shop until 4 o'clock P. M., when Keeper Auitln went to him and ordered him to tbo ball for punish ment. Cmsar utterly refused to go, and exhibi ted weapons for defence and was urged on by crmTicts about him. Mr. Austin left him and proceeded to the h»u wh««ihe informod Mr. lurkpatrlck, ihe agent of thb io aw*, KtTkpatrM%jjnedbu.aly Issued orders for the guards on to repair (0 tho shop, ihert* 10 owai: hie Uirections. Theee orders were prompily obeyed] The guards pro ceeded to the shop through tbe North wing and on tbo North side of lho bamo shop, on which side they were unobserved by tho haroe shop convicts, aud entered by a door lltnated lo aboat ihe oeutre of lho ebep. Mr. Kirkpairick, who" had preceded too guard, took his position in the keeper’s desk and ordered the convicts in tbe East eud of the shop, with the exception, of the refractory Cwsar, to inarch to tho West end: This would havp left ihe negro alone in the East end, aud he CQuld-havo been scoured without further interference or encouragement. This command was obeyed by all except some Bix or I eight of the convicts. I ; Tho negro, oontrary to orders, attempted to follow the other convicts, wbtn Mr, Aortic stepped in front of him to arrest him.- At this ioet&ot the negro raised a.hnmmer and gave Mr. Austin a hard blow, Mr. Austin at tbo same instant knooking the negro down with tils cane. Tho convicts who bad marched to the West end of the shop dieeorering tho difficulty with the I negro, tamed nod oooimenced throwing all sorts ; of tools at the keepers and guards and threaten log their lives. Tho order was then given by the ogent for oil the coovlols who wero peaoea bly disposed to lay down on tho floor or remain standing at their periL A few of the ooaviots , obeyed this order, but a large majority of them still continued in rebellion. Ttje order was then given by the ageot to Arc. This was promptly obeyed, and three of the convicts including the negro were shot. Tjje agent then informed the convicts that unless they Immediately laid down their weapons and promised obedience every man of them would bo shot. Tho .convicts re* spooded that they would obey, and suiting the action to the word, laid down their weapons. Two of Ihe convicts shot have elnce died. I Another Expos* op SrimroAUbn.—Tho San ; dusky Regitur of f aesday has a long account of the recent detection of tbs Imposture of Miss Mary Vioccnt, a noted medium of that dUy. So strong at last had become the faith of tbo Bandusky spiritualists, that they agreed to sub mit to any test that the unbelieving might im pose. Aooordingly, on Saturday nlghtjaat, they consented, unknown to the median, that a light should be struck in Ibo midst of tbo hitherto darkeoedolrcle. On the appointed evening several doubting gentlemen were present; with their'cars wide open and their pockets wolf filled with tapers and matches. After Billing some time In the dark, tho horns that lay upon thetablo commenced vi brating, ascended tho wall, ran along tbo ceiling and finally .descending touched many of the per sons oompoaing tho circle, flaring finished Its journey, a horn began in a hoarse voice to re prove the assembly for their unbelieving and groveling minds, and requested them, If they wanted any information, to apply at once to the* speaker—the Spirit oftho Horn. A question, having been asked,' the spirit was jast commencing its reply, when a light was etrubk, and Miss Viaocut was seen standing over the table, with tho horn held to her month. We Uarn by tho New Philadelphia Advocate, that In January, 1860, Levi Hull bought a farm of 250 acres of William Dunlap in Sandy township, for which ho paid $5,000 down, and his note for $3,000 secured by mort gage on tbo form. Tho note was not paid, and Dunlap brought suit. Hull set up in defence that shortly ofter taking possession of aaid prem ises, be beoome convinced that the house was haunted, and that ghosts, hob-goblin*, spooks, evjl spirits, £o., were in the habit of making nocturnal visits to the inhabitants of the man eipb, and of making night hideous—that tho neighbors were afraid to como near the house— that he was unable to get work hands to culti vate the land—that hisSwit and his family’s health of body aud peace of mind were destroyed thereby &e,—and that therefore he ought not to be compelled to pay said note or $3,000, but ought to hare judgment for $4,000 as damages sustained in oonseqoence of gettiog so terribly "ekccred.” The* hob-goblin plea, however, did not avail Mr. Hull, and instead of getting damages he got put in for.the $3,000, interest and costs. Tho haunted farm can probably bo bought cheap. Tub Havaona correspondent of tbo Savan nah Republican writes During the years I have resided in this Island, the average &nona.l nnm. bor of Afirieana imported has been about eight thousand. Last year, however, that number was nearly trebled—ftrenfy-fAr« thousand having been imported.
