Two localities have been found where the true matrix with all its accompanying minerals, are found in abundance; and from the upper sec tion in Hall and other .countiee, several have been found of the finest quality. The elastic sandstone (Itaeolumite, the true matrix of the , diamond) extends quite across the State; but diamonds have been found only In those places where gold washings are carried on, being found in the sands of theriffiers with the gold ; else where they have never-been sought after. The other locality has bat recently been discovered, and is of limited extent—merely a protrusion of the eandstone and magnetic and peculiar oxide of iron through the surrounding pyritic (aurif erous) elates, together with immense quantities of ate lLa talc of unparelleled beauty, associated with magnificent crystals of ratite from a few lines to four inches iu diameter. The Itacolum ite is thickly imbedded with splendid crystals of lazulite of three different forms. The lazulite is a very rare mineral, found in but few places in the world; is one of the accompanying miner als of the Brazilian diamond mines, (lold ex ists in theyyritic elates on the south Bide of tho mountain, which is a corresponding formation with the celebrated Don mine in South Caroli na. They also exhibit every external evidence of the existence of copper, lead and silver. That diamonds abound here, there can be no doubt; yet they may be so entree 'as to render it un profitable to mine for them alone. In Hall county they are found in the gold deposit washings, and cost nothing to find them, corn paritively. --- Tae Bar Srtva liiluo.--A Neer Corporalion. —The "committee of creditoro" of the Bay State Mills, at Lawrence, Maas., have leaned &circular recommending a new plan for capitalizing the debts into the "Washington Mille." The total debts are $2,100,000, of which $1,500,000, are held by individuals, end $900,000 by corpora tions, executors, and guardians unable to take stock, or to whom Inch a course would Involve unreasonable responsibilities. The holders of the $1,500,000 are to become stockholders, and receive certificates on the relinquishment of their claims. The $900,000 is to be Constituted a five yearn' debt,.aectund by an equal amount of the capital stook. If all the creditors sub scribe, a dividend of 33 per cent, is lobe Mode at once; if the enbscription amounts to $2,000,- 000 only, a dividend of 26 per cent. ; if to $l,- 800,000 only, a dividendOf . 20 per cent. NAaASAti.l.—Lieut. flabershant, of the steamer Powhauan, in one of his Japan litters to the Philadelphia Ledger, describes the harbor of Nagasaki as being the most beautiful In the world. lie says : t is a mountain lake, lids harbor of Nagasaki, and its inclined sides look like two vast gardens BO highly cultivated is every spot in eight. True you see patches of trees and even large groves here and there, but nine out of the ten parts of the country in eight are under constant and per fect cultivation. Such cultivation as thistle ! The hills are steep, and the reins protracted and violent here, so much so, that, were they hills of the United Slates, they would soon be furrowed with deep and exhausting "gullies," Such, however, is far from the ease in these re• glans, where time and the patient industry of a thrifty people have pitted themselves against the drawbacks of nature and gained the victory.— Look at these hills (range after range of them), upon either hand—how they commence at the endless beach and run back for miles into the elevated distance of the interior. How their sides show nothing but houses, continuous fields and occasional groves. How these fields are composed of level patches, made level and rais ed one above the other, like the seals of a vast amphitheatre, by first rabbi a stone wall and then filling in with earth, rubbish, and manure. Where the plane of this earth strikes the hill side, another wall is raised, more filling thrown in, and so on until the whole face of hills is cov ered with a orientation of huge steps, as it were. Oh ! it is a beautiful harbor—the most beauti ful, every one says, "that we have ever seen." T. B. YOUNG 4'oo. - MRS. STOTIR'S New SIIRIAI,—The reading pub lic will be glad to learn that the story, entitled "The Miuister'e Wooing," commenced In the Atlantic Monthly for December, Ls the beginning of a serial novel from the pen of Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe; and that portions of it will ap pear from month to month until it in completed. The story In marked by all the characteristics of 'vie and spirit which have - made the author , . former works so famous. The scene is laid in New England Immediately after the Revolution, —the period when all that wan most simple, quaint and peculiar In character and manner, was in full force. It was the era before railroads, steamships, lightning prosamfashionable church es, and fashionable clergymen,—in abort, the good old times of which the present generation have eo often hesa We look forward to eee .masterly portrairqf Puritan life sketched in thin romance. However, it is not necessary to do more than to, announce the face ; an author whose name and works are known In more than thirty languages, and whose two novels have reached a sale of more than eight hundred thou sand volumes in this country alone, will not surely want for readers. We shall look for the coming numbers of "The Minister's Wooing" with great interest.—Barton RATUOR ENDAHILLISIIIO.—The Memphis Boile au of the 27th nit. says ; "Mr. Geo. W. Booth Carolina, whose description was telegraphed to this city, with a request that he be arrested on his arrival here. The fugitive is charged in the dispatch with running away with a white girl, with a view of marriage. Fortunately for Mr. Darden, how ever, he had little difficirlty In proving himself to be of Anglatiaxon blood, and was soon set at liberty again. The real fugitive has not yet been apprehended." • Tn. St. Paul Pioneer ' announces the sudden death, in that. city, of CoL IL W. Irwin, who has resided there for fire years peat.
