Smith Vras chosen chairman and one vice president from o. ch Congressional district and nine secretaries were appointed. The lion. Sampson Mason nominated Salmon P. Chase for Governor and he was nominated by acclamation amid the cheers of the delegates and waving of hats and handkerchiefs. Immediate ly Ron the announcement of this nomination a salute of fifteen guns was fired amid general re joicing. A committee was appointed to wait upon the Governor and inform him of his nomi nation. Shortly afterwards be appeared and addressed the Convention. Four ballots wore had for Lieut. Governor.— The fourth stood as follows : Welker 206; Cutter 122; Corwin 42. Mr. Welker being nominated he appeared on the platform and made a neat speech accepting the nomination. For Supreme Judge, Milton Sut tiffe; for State Treasurer, A. P. Stone, who re ceived 365, all the votes cast ; for Secretory of State, A. P. Russell, of Clinton; for Board of Publio Works, Jacob Illickensderfer. A series of resolutions was adopted and the Convention adjourned with three cheers for the ticket. A ratification meeting is to be held to-night in front of the Capitol. CHICAGO, Aug. 12.—St. Paul dates to the 9th are received. In the Democratic Convention Judge Sherburne offered a resolution providing for the appointment of a Committee of Confer ence to wait upon a similar Committee to be ap pointed by the Republicans to make a compri mise for the submission of but one Constitution to the people. After an animated debate, it was voted down by 3 majority. The subject is to come up on Monday and the resolutions will probably be adopted.
