Riot• among the :Pew York Rowdle• Several. riots occurred in the city of New York during Saturday, the most serious of *Lich ori ginated in the _Bowery. The fight continued with great ferocity for an hour, clubs, atones, bottles and fire-arms being freely used. The "Five Pointers" were gradually driven back. Eight persons were killed in this riot, and about thirty, including severalpolicemen, wound ed. At one period, the rioters had the streets barricaded, defying the policemen, of whom there was upward of a hunstred piesent. Three regiments of State troops were ordered out, and kept in reserve, but their services were not re quired, as the riot was finally suppressed by the exertions of the police. In the minor riots which occurred during the day, two persons were killed, end twenty or thirty badly wounded. In nearly all the dis turbances, ex-policemen were conspleuousactors. (From tho New York Tim. of Znnloyd Abut two o'clock yesterday morning, a gang of pickpockets belonging to the Sixth Wnrd, and calling themselves the " Dead Rabbit Clab, made a violent attack with clubs and stones upon the drinking place No. 40 Bowery. They stoned in .the windows, and Severely injured three of the inmates. Word was cant to the Tenth and Thirteenth Ward station houses, when the whole of the reserved forces, under command o f Sergeants Darts and Steers, proceeded to tho scene of disturbance. As they were coming up, the rowdies fled down Bayard street towards the Five Points. They also attacked a party of young men in Bayard street, severely injuring several, and dangeroutilywouridingn young man named George S. Williams, twenty years of ago with a club, fracturing his skull. The riot was recommenced last evening, and resulted in a great deal of bloodshed and loss of life. The Bowery boys some of whom were in jnred by the "Dead Rabbit Club," at the drink tng saloon adjoining the'Bowery theatre, rallied in considerable force to retaliate.• A collision took place between the two factions abgut seven o'clock lost evening, in Bayard street, between Baxter and Mott, and the fight progresses! in a desperate manner—elats, stones and pistols be ing used. ENGINES, A detachment of twenty-five policemen were dispatched from No. Fs, White street, to quell the riot and disperse the mob. Theywerehoot el at by the mob, who finally commenced to pelt them with stones, brickbats, and whatever mis siles could be obtained. Many of the mob were armed with guns an pistols, who fired in discriminately into the crowd, at the same time howling like a set of fiends. The scene was one of the greatest confusion, undseveral of the police were severely wounded. Officer Jenkins was injured very seriously by a blow of abrick bat on the head, and it is thought he canne cover. The mob seemed disposed to app the station-house in White street, but a strong force was stationed across Centre street, and no persons were allowed to pass up that street.— Two of the rioters were arrested. As it was feared that the riot would prove still store serious, a large number having al ready been badly injured, the 71st I:v : aeat was ordered out. . _ . . .. . . . The riot yesterday afternoon, in the Sixth Ward, was a continuation of the affray between the •' Dead Rabbit Club'' Of Mulberry street and 1 ,,• , t ewe' gang of No. 40, Bowery. It broke out anew in bay, ~ ~ eet, about ft o'clock. As a squad of the metropolitan po tee - ' their way to the Seventh Ward, the Mulberry street rowdies, supposing they had come to ar rest them, and being armed with pistols, paving stones, clubs, knivesandotherweapons, attacked them 'at once. The metropolitans in turn at tacked them, and took several into custody.— Word was sent to the White street station and thirty men were dispatched to the scene. By this time the rioters had retreated to the tops of the houses and rained down bricks and other missiles upon the police, and fired at them with pistols and muskets until they were obliged to retreat; but they succeeded in arresting I about a dozen of the rioters and lodged them in the Tombs. The Bowery boys now took sides with the Metropolitans, and attacked the "Dead Rabbits." At first the latter were too much for them, but being reinforced, the "Rabbits" were driven back.' Then commenced a fearful scene of riot and bloodshed. The Rabbits retreated to the - roofs of their houses and shot and threw stonesand bricks up on the others. A large numberof persons were wounded, many of them mortally. The city hospital is overflowing with the vic tims of the fight, and it is reported that for every one brought here three others are hurt.— The crowd at the hospital was so great that it became necessary to detail policemen to keep them off. THE LATEST.—Notice was received at the Me tropolitan office, in White street, about four o'clock, that there was a fight in Baxt r street. The police were sent down, and found the pen pie in Baxter street firing brickbats and pistols from the windows end roofs of the houses.— Twenty Or thirty of the policemen were struck by the missiles. The fight soon became general, and muskets and pistols were fired by the op posing parties in Bayard and Elizabeth streets. The police arrested a large number, and locked thorn up in the White street station, whence they were subsequently taken to the Fifth Ward police station. They had barricaded Mulberry street, near Bayard, with carts, wagons, hose, carts and timber, and in Bayard street, near Elizabeth, another barricade was built of the same mate rials. From behind these barricades the bellig erents were continually firing at each otherwith muskets,. pistols, nod other weapons. Officer Shangle, accompanied by others, disguised, went to them, and represented them- elves to be de puty sheriffs. They told them they must stop firing, as the military had been ordered out., nod would fire upon them unless they immediately dispersed. The Bowery party said if the others would stop, they would. ellilaii(mers represent ed they had consented to do so. They said the "Irish sons of commenced it, and if they had bad enough, they were satisfied." Its co pilot that they had, and set to work and removed the barricades. They objected some, but did not molest him. The police then started to go down fo the other party, but before reaching them, met an-irish man with a brickbat in his hand, and some one fired at him three or four shots nt once, He fell dead at officer Sharpell's feet, having been shot throUgh the head. The disguised police contin ued down toward the other party, and raising their hats, the mob forebore to fire upon them. It - was ornamented by four waving while funeral plumes at the corners, and in the rear seat was placed a bust of Clay; also the engraving of leave-taking Prom the senate of the United States.
