Itstionnt; !Passismtews antots:•-lizerswo convened again at half past two on Thursday. _ The committee on missions repOrted; They recommend that the field of home missions its beyond the boundaries of the presbyteries—that the field of foreign missions be on this ehntinerd; : or on some of the adjacent islands-thit com mittee be appointed to devise ways aid means ; for the establishment of a foreign mission —eh . * committee endeavor io secure two missio ' Loethe foreign field, &a. Laid on the table or t present. The ;committee on the Theological report. that Se welfare of the church, and the progress of he gospel require more young men devoted to the lztloistry--thst the ministry should be-com posed of only pious, and educated men—snd that a Theological Smificuiry is indispensible to the proper quantizations of students. The re nd recommends that the Seminary:be resuscita ted--that Synod now determine the location— bat two professors be elected the first, professor , Theology and Church Government; the sec en, of Hebrew and-of Ecclesintion History— hat a board of inspection be appointed-4W he selectee of the professors be determined bet•-• we their election-and that a committee be nis i to devise ways and mesas for securing the eceseary fonds, or a plan of manful - ea Re port laid on the table for the present. The same committee also reported a coarse of ' study, which also lies on the table. - The case before Synod at the adjournment in the forenoon was resumed. On motion, the records of the Pres. of Illinois and the testimony which was before them, bearing on the case, was read. The reading of the written testimony of many witnesses occupied much time Rev. Eulteson resumed his argument, and was speak. ing when the hour of adjournment arrived. Drzwato Szsinos.-8. C. Wylie and thou joining With him gave their reasons of dissent, against the deeisionnf Synod in arming the to- tion of Itoehester session. On motion of A. &mason, J. M Wmoon, Jas. Wallace and Mr. Mceracken;hreze appointed to answer these motor" of dissent. H. Hutchison resumed his, enforeement of com plaint, recapitulating hisviews respecting the testimony and reconciling discrepancies. He was followed by J. R. W. Sloane on the earoe • ride. The court had now everything before it requisite to form a judgment., and it is perfectly competent. After briefly reviewing portions of tne - testimony, he stated his views in favor of eirotunitential evidence, mills confidence that the doettine that two or three witnesses were requisite to establish a fact was not civil law, nor bible law, nor ecclesiastical law. W. F. George made some observations, in urging -the complaint.. He designed to show that: the Stigma of malice or at least officiousness; which some seemed hi affix to Lakes' Presbytery, was unfounded. • While relating some of his own experience as to this, he was called to or der, Ilk he was going beyond the record. Mr. Stott rejoined indefence.of Illinois Pres bytery. He stated that the gnat question now before the court is, whether the mass of testi mony now on the, table is sufficient to convat the original person accused, or in other words, whether or not the Presbytery was warranted in its decision. He distinguishedbetween two kinds of testimlny—that founded on oath of credulity, sad that Sounded on oath of verity. The former is-when one testifies what he believed to be true, the latter la when one testifies what is known to 'be matter of feat. The former never can con -, Now, there is not a single oath of verity in cider to contain the original proseintion. 4:11. McDonald at some length analysed the testimony, showing that all that was relied upon • by the complaints, was merely hearsay evidence- Re quoted Greene en evidence, hi proof that "such evidence, shall not be allowed to prove anything." He was followed by A. 0. Todd, who briefly showed that if the evidence against the original parties proved anything, it _established - the fact thet.they could by po possibility have elan- the parents of 'the boy, and sated that- Dr Malin l had urged Presbytery to take his testimony that they were not theparenta of t6schild. This ape* - inquiry was confirmed by rheinbers of the Presbytery.-1 When he..closed the Presbytery nested its cause. • Oa motion the pititisMitore removed and the adjourned., .. 1170/LY Awouvusastr.—The annual mis, eitnothy meting of the Sabbath-School attached tothe Liberty etrcet 3L E.
