Adam McMinn. of 156 Dundaff street, was squeezed bf tw een the car and coal while at work In the Fallbrook mine yesterday morning and received very painful Injuiles about the face. From his eve to hln chin the flesh was laid open to the bone and the cavity of the upper Jaw wan exposed to view. Other parts of the face were badly contused by the contact with the coal. He said that his name was John Youan, and that he had walked from Pitts butg to this town, seeking employ ment, but could find none. He stated that the works- were all shut down caused bv the strike of the men and that he had a wife and two children starving In that city. On leaving he gave the same salutation as the Hun garians generally do, by tipping the hat and a lift of the shoulders, show ing his gratitude for the meal which had been furnished him. Later In the ufternoon a man by the nnme of Mike Kruge, a resident of the east side, no tltied Constable Hosle that a man by the name of John Youan, who had been drinking with him In the morn ing, was wanted in Pittsburg for the murder of his brother. Ysca, on the Cth of January last. Constable Hosle lost no time In having Kruge brought before Justice of the Peace Helmes. After hearing the witness a search warrant was Issue and Constable Ho sle went In company with Kruge In search of Youan. Late In the evening they located the fugitive In n house at Mayfleld yard. The occupants de nied his being there, but Constnble Ho sle forced his wav Into the house and made a search and on entering a bed room up stairs he saw the man hid ing beneath a bedstead, wrapped up In the bed clothes. He was brought to Squire Helmes' office about 10 o'clock and from there he was taken on the 11 o'clock train to the county Jail. There will be a concert In the Ed monds & Snyder hall tomorrow even ing, for the benefit of Chulburt Ches terfield, who has been at the Emer gency hospital, Carbondale, for the past month. Thomas Buckingham, of Mayfleld, while stepping from the doorstep of Cain's store to the walk last evening caused a fracture of the leg for the third time. Mr. Buckingham Is ex ceedingly unfortunate. A short time ago he had his leg fractured which made amputation of the foot neces sary. He has only been out of the hospital about a week. At a meeting of the council, held on Tuesday evening, the question of a fire alarm system was taken up for final consideration. A resolution was read providing for the adoption or the Gamewell system. It was passed by an unanimous vote. The agreement calls for ten automatic boxes and all necessary apparatus, the terms of pay inent being two years from date of ac ceptance by council. Tho cost will be J1.500. The committee was empowered to locate boxes nnd draw up contracts as soon as possible. The next business was the reading of the street commis sioner's bills, amounting to $123, and the electric light account of $166. Both tills were passed. A large number ot other hills were also passed. The sec retary's report for the past month ehowed Hint he had collected over t00 for electric lights and wiring.
