The Mortgage Bonds of the Connecting Railway
Company, between the station of the Pennsylvania
Railroad Companyin West Philadelphiaand Frank
ford, a distance of seven miles, can be obtained at
this Office, No. 238 South THIRD Street.
These bonds are in sums of one thousand dollars,
with interest coupons attached payable at said
office on the 15th day of March andSeptemberin each
year, at the rate of six per centum per annum, and
the principal payable in five equal annual amounts,
at the rate of MOOOO pefannum—the first series on
September 15, A. 1500. The principal and interest
are secured by a mortgage for one million of dollars
upon all the railway and property of the company,
and are guaranteed by the Pennsylvania Railroad
CoMpany. These bonds are made free of State taxes
by the Company.
The railway is being constructed in the most sub
stantial manner, and will be completed during the
ensuing year. This road perfects- the connection
between the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New
York lines via Philadelphia, and becoming, as it
will, the main channel of communication between
New York and the West, as well as to and from the
National Capital,. will always obtain large reve
nuea, and be one of the most important railways of
the Onion.
Mader a contract with the Philadelphia and Tren
ton - Railroad Company, that company leases the
road of the Connecting Railway Company', and
agrees to pay an annual rent for sea years of six per
centum upon the cost of the road, clear of taxes.
These bonds are therefore recommended as a drst
class security.
