The ye °enmity claimed by this church, consists indispens. lag with alt human clads and traditions as of any binding effect. The Troly Bible, as the Word of God, is the alone test of religious truth. The Dieet. Aline of the Church requires Its members to shun the common evils of the world, to abstain from alt intoxicating beverages, and - from the flesh of ard. male as food. This last peculiarity of living is claimed to be warranted by the authority of nature, and in conformity with the direct command of God in the Bible. Genesis I, 29:h verse is quoted as an imperative command to all mankind, to subsist on vegetarian food. The church has also always borne unequivocal and urgent testimony against slavery. The Mode of worship is congregational, and the church is independent of all other assoelatloni. All Its services and sacraments are open to all who de. sire to participate. The present minister, the Rev. Joseph Nfetealte, is the son of the founder of this church. 13. e Is about 66 years of age, and has strict. ly conformed, through life, to the church discipline, never even having tasted animal food, to his know ledge. A sale of several thousand 'Mara of. stock of this company having been made by and tbrcueh the complainants, at the price of one dol lar per share, which almost immediately went up 1h the market to between five dullard and ten dot lars per share, and to which they were unable to deliver, in consequence, as they allege, of there fusel of their principal to hand over to them the stock. the matter was brought to the attention of the Board of Brokers, of *morn plaintiffs are meat bets. The question as to the delivery or Don ilellvery by the complainants of the stook so Sold by them was referred to a committee of the Weird, who reported that the transaction was a fair busi ness transaction, according to recognized oust= among broitere, and that the stook should be doh verso. Complainants declined to deliver the stook, alleging a conspiracy as against the defendants and fraud, and filen their MU asking for an Injunction against the Board of Brokers to restrain them from proceeding to expel them, the complainants, as members of this body. The substance of complainants' allegations of fraud and conspiracy were Stated in our notice of the case last week. Yesterday the case came up again, when T. E. Molitroy, Esq., for complainants read the bill and the affidavits of E. B. Harper, Alexander Givens, and others, in support, of Its elle. go Me& W. J. Five dissolute young men were committed yester day to sotwer the charge of rfet, asKault and bat tery, slid Lea/Wiens mischief. It is alleged the pri. Boners entered a lager-beer Saloon On LAWittnie street, near Girard avenue. on 'rhured ty evening, beat the proprietor, knooked his wife down, and tore things out generally. They smashed the glasses, started the beer barrels, broke the chairs, and tried to overturn the bar. Gorman elkars were mumbled into snuff, and the gaslights were eatititilsited. Forty women were arraigned yesterday morning at the Central Station. They ware arrested by police officers on the previous evening oft the streets, the majority of them about Washington Square. Complaints of redden GS around the rqtytre and le the vicinity were made at the ale.yer , ,, :diem against the nightly Scenes, coarse jests. rade, profane, and obeceme remarks mace by Immoral females. The presence of this claaewas a nuisance and a shame ful outroge on the respeotable people, who could not Sit at their front windows to get a little air- daring a warm evening without having their moral feelings lesulted. It tfi3 therefore necessary to call in the aid of the police, and a joint division of Lienteuant Goldey's and Lieutenant Pauline; men were de tailed for the duty, and the result of their work was exhibited In the forty arrests above alluded to. Some Ot the prisoners were youthful, bat dissipa tion had made its mark upon them. °there, older in iniquity, exhibited the traces of dis ease area broken constitutions. Some loozed as though they felt humiliated; Others were pert, bold, and defiant. Some of these females had ne melee to nay the costs incident to el. ease*. They were compelled to part with elite of these or jewelry even to raise a couple of dollars. Generally speaking, they are very poor, and, to use a common phrase on a very common subject, "live from hand to mouth. ), Whether their arrest and fine, or being held to bail well %cum the desired reformation, is slur oiy a pro. blem that can bo easily enived without the We of Euelia's elements.
