EDITORS MINERS' JOIJRNAL—.Sirs .—The Cele bration alluded to 'in your columns two weeks ago, to take place an the eveninga et the 22d and 23d, in honor of the; birth of the: Father 'of our noble Republic, came off as published. Perhaps it would be burdensome to insert in your paper a sketch of the exercieses &c. Before the hour for commencing, on , the first evening, near file hun dred people had assembled to witness the exerci! sea.. Precisely at 7 o'clock the work was commenced with !dune by the Tremont Choir, entitled • "Al together Agam." C. D. 'S. Alter then delivered a flue oration; subject "Men who never die." Mr. Altar is quite an orator ;and commands considera ble praise for this ,effort. Ad essay was then read by Anna L: Kirk; entitled "True Nobility;" the production wean good one and certainly did its author great credit. A piece of music was then sung by the Choir' entitled; -. "Never Forget the Dear Ones." This was -followed by some short declamations and dialognea by the boys and girls, who seemed to take great interest in the work which they had undertaken. The Choir again favored the audience with a piece of music styled "Good News for my Mother." S. C. Kirk then de livered Mr. Haynes speech in full, as it was de livered. in IMO in the U. S. Senate.' This was a fine recitation and greatly interested its hearers. A piece entitled "The Laugh of a Child" was then snug by the:Choir.
