The track is called Marblehead creek. - Tit is almost an island, forming the eastern Shore of the harbor, but joined on to the main land by a low beach. It contains 240 acres. The soil is what be called hard —the'solid rock, which forms the basin, crops out in many places, and the debris of this, and 'granite boulders are scattered over the surface... Naturally the aspect of the place vps 'rough and' forbidding. • . Mr: Brown's•first operations were of course expensive. But the first crops showed that the soil was strong, and encouraged him t o 'go,on. He has now about sixty-five aires en closed and brought under the plow_ exclu• sive' of forty acres at one end of the tract, which forms a separate farm, and is leased. Of the sixty acres, about forty are annually in grass, and the remainder in vegetables and grain. Cattel, of Harrisville - , Harrison county, Ohio, lins , tried keeping sheep both with mid with but shelter, and has come to the conclusion that it takes from half a bushel to a bushel more corn to winter a sheep without than with shelter, and asks; "would it not he well fOr farmers generally, to make some temporary shelter for the winter and thus save their 'feed?" Even temporary shelter is better than none at all, but permanent sheep sheds, in most pines, ,can be erected so cheaply that few farmers 'have any excuse. for being without them.
