It appears that some time ago.the latter desired the other to - withdraw from the firm, which he declined doing; and a far from amiable feeling has int isted between them, in consequence. Yesterday, Mr. Batioook signified to Mr. McDonald his in tention to publish a dissolution of the partner ship, whether he was willing or not, which so excited the ire of the latter that he indulged in many demonstrations of violence against the former, who, alarmed" for his personal safety, went before Mayor Volz, and made information .against Mr. MoDonald for surety of the peace. A warrant was issued, and the defendant arrest ed and held to bail in $690 to keep the peace ; bat subsequently returning to the Chronicle office, and finding that the notice was actually in the paper, he deliberately took the " form " in which it was contained, and knocked it into "pi," thus compelling the issue of half a Chronicle yesterday afternoon. After accom plishing this, he was arrested a second time, fOr malicious mischief, and compelled to give bail in an additional sum of $5OO. BOLD OUTRAGE IN A PUBLIC STREET.—On Friday morning, about one o'clock, a young man named William Atkinson was attacked near the corner of Ohio and Sandusky streets, Alle gheny, by two men, knocked down- and robbed of about five dollars. Ile had arrived in. the 12 o'clock train of the 0. and P. Railroad, and when ho left the depot for his residence, in the Third Ward, was followed by. these fellows, but did not suppose their intent was felonious until one came np suddenly and. struck him from be hind with suffioient force to knock him over on his face; before he could rise, the other jumped upon him, and held him still, while the first scoundrel rifled his pockete. The smallness of the booty would Scarcely compensate for the risk the rascals ran in securing it. Considering the publicity of the place, this robbery was as daring as any that has occurred on that side of 'the river for a long while. As we live up in the end of the town where this outrage happened, we'll feel obliged to Mayor Adams if he'll au thorize Geese of his police to keep watch in that neighborhood. Tunas was to have been a meeting held yes terday in Hollidaysburg, to devise ways and means for raising one hundred thousand dollars Be initiatory to the purchase of the Main Line. There are some good nnmes signed to the oall for this meeting, but we doubt whether the mover of the Reject is sufficiently sound to lead off eucoesafully in the enterprise. We hive no idea the Main Line will be disposed of at the present time, if the Pennsylvania Railroad Com pany fails to bid. There are many reasons why the Company will not assume the responsibility of purchase, which are equally potent with other substantial companies. There has been much complaint in relation to the purchase of the rolling stock of sundry transporters on the public works by tho Pennsylvania Company, but as it certainly requires two to make a bargain, we presume the parties were satiated. The public) works are still open for individaal eater piles, sad if thero is money to be made in the transportation business, doubtless the opportu nity will be improved. A For ACCIDENTALLY KILLED. The foreign news of the week .although down ward has felled to similarly affect domestic markets, and from this fact may be argued a firmness and vitality that a - 11l go tar toward sustaining liberal rates. The present harvest, now nearly past danger, is from all quarters ac knowledged to be unparalleled in the agricultural history of the country. It is yet, however, some time before, In the natural course of things, nay large quantity will be brought on to the market, and when allowance la made for the growing disposition among our wealth aocumulating farmers to house and hold their produce, as basis for future speculation, the quantity to prove immediately available, becomes a matter of more than ordinery uncertainty. Up. on the presumption that over one-half of the corn is al ready marketed, the deficit in that great staple will mate rially help to sustain Nall price❑, and again on the other hand when It le known that very many of the large grow. ere are still holders of the corn in large quantities, there atilt romaine ground for reasonable expectation of an hod portabt end certain decline. The whole matter, then, seems to depend upon the nicety of a peculiar adjustment between the current supply and demand. Under these clrcumstenees the extreme caution which at present marks the movements of operators is perfectly nat ural and legltloiate.
