COTTON—There was a very general demand on Sat urday, holders were disposed to ask extreme rates. and sales were restricted to 1500 bales, at no for middling. On Monday the demand was again good, and as there was a more general disposition on the part of factors to meet the views of buyers, the sales reached MO bales, at slightly easier rates. The business of Tuesday amounted to 3000 bales, at the currency of previous day. owing to the light receipts, caused by the low stage of our rivers, the market on Wednesday was rather bare, thereby giving holders a decided advantage in obtaining fall prices ; the sales of the day were 2500 bales, the market closing firmly at 710 for middling. On Thursday the transactions amounted to 1500 bales, at the prices of previous day. On yesterday—Friday—the demand was again very general, hot sales were moderate, amounting to 1500 to 2000 bales, the market closing firmly at our quotations. The total sales of the week are 13,600 bales, taken mostly for England. S. very fair proportion par. chased for oar Northern markets.
