We hear of a sale of 8,000 hogs 100 miles in the interior of Indiana at $8,15 gross. The hogs are to be packed in this city.--Louisville Com., Oot. 28. ne Hog Market.—The last Cincinnati Price Current closes a long artiole in regard to the pork business with the following observations: In Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, there is a full supply of Corn and every inducement to feed it to hogs, and there cannot be a doubt, that every hog of sufficient age to be prepared for the block will be fatted and brought to market ; and farm ers will keep less for their own use, as is always the case in seasons of high prices. In other Western States, there are the same inducements, with the exception, perhaps, of a less ample sap ply of Corn. The existence of this state of things, increases the chances against the pnrchaBer of hogs at high prices, and this, in connection with the im portant fact, that the market for products opens prices materially higher than those current at this period last year, which must tend to reduce consumption, will induce parties to operateyrith caution, and the result of any indication of an excess in supply of hogs, as the season advances, may be readily foreseen. P INLKENNA, Anat'r The Rice Harvest.—The Winyaw Observer of the 24th nit. says: The harvest is rapidly progressing, and never have the planters had a better season for this work. It is as dry as a cone, and the cool weath er, which we have been experieneing.Coi the last fortnight, has indeed been most gru, teful to the laboring negroes. The mining intelligence is highly favorable.— A rich vein of quartz had been discovered in Broadway, San Francisco. The first of the Cuban news had reached San Francisco, and mimed great excitement. Large numbers were preparing to set out for Cuba, with a view to join Lopez. Capt. White, late of the Pacific Star, intended to depart for Cabe at an early day. The returns of the late election for Governor are nearly all in. The majority for the Demo cratic State officers and members of Congress ranges from one to four thousand. The Hon. John Bigler, fin' Governor, has 1500 majority in the State; and Messrs. Marshall and McCorkle . (Dem.) are elected to Congress by heavy majorities. The entire vote polled is 45,000, and every county gives a Democratic majority. Mr. Marshall was to leave for Washington on the 4th of October; Mr. MoCorkle would be detained for some time by sickness. The miners on the Tolumne river are meeting with better success than , last year. The new quartz companies in that vicinity are getting on encouragingly. The silver mines yield largely. There was a Cuban fillibuster meeting held at Sacramento City on the 26th ; it was largely at-, tended, and the proceedings were enthusiastic. Fifteen or twenty passen gers from California, who were on their way to the steamer, were driven back, and five are known to have been killed. The others fled, taking refuge in the houses, which they barri caded. They finally got on board the Cherokee, through the courtesy of the commander of a British steamer, who took them off in his own boats. Tho specie was also taken off in the British boats. The whole amount of specie brought by the Cherokee is $1,919,162 on freight and $260,000 in the hands of passengers, of whom she brings four hundred.
