The furnace being prepared, tae Safe was placed Inside thereofiwith-books,papors and some money; when the door of the Safe was closed and the fire kindled at k quarter past S o'clock, and in a short time the Safe was red lot, and continued till half past 6 &eta, lc, being about four and a half hours, when -the committee expressed their satisfaction that the time occupied with such heat was sufficient, The funmee was then pulled down, Safe cooled, and door opened—the books, papers and money safe.
