WILLIAM MKIUUT. sept 22 1863-Jy E KIDNEYS The Kidneys are two iu number, situated at the upper part of the l )in, surrounded by fat. and consisting of three parts, vix ; the Anterior, the Interior, and the Exterior. The anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissues or veins, which serve as a deposit for the urine and couvey it to" the exterior. The exterior is a conductor also, terminating in a single tub, and culled the Uriter. The ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various cover ings or tissues, divided iuto parts, viz: the Upper, the Lower, the Netvous, and the Mu cous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have a desire to urinate without the ability ; others urinato without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs lit chil dren. To cure these affections, we, must bring into action the muscles, which are engaged in their various functions. If they are ne glected. Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The render must also be made aware, that however slight may be the attack, it is sure to affect the bodily health and tueutal pow ers, as our flesh and blood are supported fio:.i these sources. GOUT, OR RHEUMATISM. Pain occurring in the loius is indicative of the above diseases. They occur to per sons disposed to acid stomach and chalky concretions. THE GRAVEL. The gravel ensues from neglect of impro per treatment of the kidneys. These organs being weak, the water is not expelled from the bladder but allowed to remain, it be comes feverish, and sediment forms. It is from this deposit that the stone is formed, and gravel ensues. DROPST. Dropsy is a collection of water in some parts of the body, and bears different names, according to the parts affected, viz: when generally diffused over the body, it is called Auasarce, when of the; abdomen, Ascites ; when of the chest, Uydrothorax. TREATMENT. Helmbold's highly concentrated compound Extract Cuchu is decidedly one of the best remedies for diseases nf the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings rheumatism, and gouty affections. Under this head we have arranged Dysuria, or difficulty and pain in passing water. Scanty Secretion, or small and frequent discharge of water ; Strangury, or slopping of water ; Heninturia, or bloody urine; Gout and Rheumatism of tho kid neys, without any change m quantity, but in crease in color, or dark atcr. It was al ways highly recomrcended by tiie late Dr. Physick, in these affection. This medicine increases the power of di gestion, and excites the absorbents into healthy eiercise by which the watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural iilargemtats, as well as pain and inflamma i.'ii, are reduced and it is taken by men wo men aud children. Directions for use and diet accompany. Philadelphia, Pa.. Seb. 1857. II. T. Helmiiold, Druggist : Dear Sir. I have been sufTeriiin, for un- wards of twenty years, with gravel, bladder and kidney allcction, during which time I I.ave used various medical preparations, aud been under the treatment of the most eminent Physicians, experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparation extensively advertised, I consul'cd with my family physician in regard to using your Extraet l!uc!i u. 1 did this because I had used all kinds of advertised remedies, and bad found them worthless, and some quite injuriou. in fact I despaired of ever getting well, and determ: incd to use no remedies hereafter unless I knew of the iLgredients It was this that prompred me to use your remedy. Asyou advertised that it was composed of buchu. cubebs. and juniper berries, it occurred to me and my physician as an excellent com bination, and, with bis advice, after an exam ination of the article, and consulting again witb the druggist, I concluded to try it. I commenced its use about eight months ago, at which time I wss confined to my room. From the first bottle I was astonished and gratified at the teneficial effect, and after using it three weeks, was able to walk out. 1 felt much like writing you a full statement of my case at the time, but thought my im provement niiglit only be temporary, and tlierctoie concluded to defer and see if it would effect a perfect cure knowing then it would be of greater value to you, aud more satisfactory to me. I am now able to report that a cure is ef fected after using the remedy for five months. I have not used any now for three months, and feel as well in all respects as I ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any un pleasant taste aad odor, a nice tonic and in vigorator of the system, 1 do not mean to he without it whenever occasion may require its use in such affections. M. M. A dressing which is at once agreeable, healthy, and effectual for preserving the hair. Faded or gray hair is soon restored to its original color with the gloss' and freshness of youth. Thin hair is thick ened, falling hair checked, and bald ness often, though not always, cured by its use. Nothing can restore the hair where the follicles are destroyed, or the glands atrophied and decayed. But such as remain can be saved for usefulness by this application. Instead of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair from turning gray or falling off, and consequently prevent baldness. Free from those deleterious substances which make some preparations dangerous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can ouly benefit but not harm it. If wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can be fonnd so desirable. Containing neither oil nor dye, it does not soil white cambric, aud yet lasts long on the hair, giving it a rich glossy lustre and a grateful perfume. Prepared by Dr. J. C.
