At about 11 o'clock on Fri day night the 18th Inst., the small stream which empties into Buffalo Creek at Esh col, being swollen by tho unusually heavy rains, overflowed its banks, doing consid erable damage, and creating quite an ex citement. For particulars and some paint ing, see the following communication : - THE FRESHET. At the hour of midnight, all whom slumber bless Rest upon the bosom of unconsciousness. Foaming In Its fury, writhing In Its wroth, Terror and destruction follow In Its path. John, with voice exceeding far the torrent's roar, Thundered forth his warning at each neighbor's door, Till the wakened ladles, rising in their fright, Sought the scene of terror, in their robes of night. Still Intent on doing "good for man and beast," John sought ont the bog-pen and knocked la theKast ,. '" "' ' ' i Oable In a moment bat, his feathers wet, Forker could not fly up and Is in yet.
