"We seo several young men round town who have had their heads sand papered, at least wo should judge so by tho length, or rather the shortness of their bair. It may be a cool, but it is not a pretty stylo. A Mean Thief. On Monday of last week some one entered tho residence of Mrs. Kitner on High St. and stole her pock et-book containing nine dollars. Pieces of the book were subsequently found by the children on the street. We did not suppose we had any one in this town mean enough to rob a widow of her hard earned money. Drowned. On Friday afternoon Thomas Gorman a lad about 8 years ofago, whose father lives on Duncan's Island, was drown ed in the canal at llarrisburg. In the list of premiums annouccd are some rather singular classifications, for an agricultural exhibition. For instance, we notice that the best bushel of wheat a premium of f 3. the second best $1. the bost bread $1. and the best display of apples $1. while the best display of Flowers is entitled to $5. and the second best to $3. The ques tion naturally arises whether wheat and bread are of so much less importance to an agricultural community than flowers. Death of Sterret KaniKey. The venera ble Major Sterret Ramsey, well and favora bly known throughout this connty, died at (he residence of his niece, Mrs. Baugbor, in Gettysburg on Tuesday morning last, in the 83d year of his age.
