Governor Ran dolph lias signed the papers. t2T"On Monday a week, a man who gives his name as James Poole, of Newark, N. J. met with a very painful accident at tho railroad depot at Lebanon. He was trying to make his way on tho road on a freight train without the knowledge of the con ductor, and was sitting on a " bumjer" of one of the cars, when his leg was caught between the cars, producing very serious injury. ' If misfortune ever followed a poor fellow with a particularly "sharp stick," it was a man named Bruim,in Augusta, Ga. Seriously injured by a runaway horse, ho was taken to tho hospital. When dis charged, lie had gone but a few steps when lie was badly bitten by a ferocious dog, and obliged to go again to the hospital. A few ago he was again " discharged, cured," but had not walked three squares before he waa knocked down and killed by another runaway horse. CUT A singular feat of horsemanship oc curred in Macon Georgia, a few days ago. A gentleman was driving' a spirited horse when tho bit suddenly broke. The animal at once commenced running at a rapid rate, but with the greatest degreo of com posure tho driver jumped from tho buggy upon tho horse's back, and catching him by the nose and throat, held him back un til he had recovered from his fright, when ho seift for a new bridle, and drove off as though nothing had iiapjiened. QTRov. Mr. Barton, of Sunbury re. cently attempted to cross the railroad cross ' lug, and while doing so, caught his foot be tween tho rail and the plank covering. The train was within a few foct of him, when witli a superhuman effort he extri cated himself from a peril which must have resulted in instant death, no reached his home with much difficulty. Hisanklowas severely sprained, but we are glad to state that he conducted the service in his church on Sunday last. t3T Mr. h. 11.
