The expenses of this corporation have boon , unusually heavy the past year, in consequenee of the opening of Norris street, which required grading and paving the entire length of the southern boundary of the property, extending from Nineteenth to Twentieth streets. The Institution is doing much good in the locality where it is situated, considering the limited amount of means at the command of the managers. It is in contemplation to erect, at an early peried,-new buildings•better , adapted for the hospital purposes, but the necessary means are lacking, to collect which efforts will be made early in the spring. RUN OVER BY A PAERIENOXII RAILWAY CAR.—This morning, about one o'clock, Po licemen Bird and Lukens found a man named John If ciliernan lying in the street' at Ger mantown and Susquehanna avenues. His hand was crushed, and bore the appearance of having been run over by a passenger rail way car. lifcHierrian resides at Nieetown, and it is suppobed that while going home he fell from the car and was run over. He was taken to the Eleventh District Police Statiori, and two fingers were amputated by a physi cian. He was then taken to the St. Mary's Hospital. A BAD Bor.—George Peirce, aged 19 4 years, was arrested last night by a Reserve officer, upon the charge of larceny - . The complainant is a colored boy, who sells potatoes from a push-cart. He alleges that he paid Peirce ten cents to take care of his cart, which contained about six bushels of potatoes. When he re ttumxlineitherTefrce, cart, nor potatoes could be found. After getting his warrant, the colored boy said that Peirce could be found at Fox's Theatre. The policeman went there, and found George in the colored gallery. The accused hag hearing before Alderman Kerr, and was held in $6OO bail for trial. STEALING .Haas.—John Smith, Samuel Dill and Daniel Walto, all colored, were arrested yesterday by Sergeant Ward and Policeman Rich, on the charge of the larceny of six hogs from Martinsville, a place in the "Neck." The porkers were dnyen away, and were recovered by the police. The alleged thieves were subsequently captured. They were committed by Alderman Collins. STABLE AND HORSE BURYED.-A. frame stable belonging to Timothy Kelly, and lo cated on Edgemont street,belovr Huntingdon, was destroyed by fire about half-past four o'clock this morning. A horse perished in.the flames. The loss is estimated at $250. CAUGHT IN THE AcT.—Robert Wiley, aged 15 years, was caught in the act of stealing scraps of iron from the front of the Baldwin .ocomotive Works this morning. He was bken before Aid. Massey, and was held in $5OO bail to answer. ROBBED IN A BAR-Rooll.—James BUM, re eding at No. 2241 Sharswood street, entered a complaint yesterday that he bad been robbed of V 230 in the bar-room.of his boarding-honse on the previous night. FinE.—About half-past one o'clock this morning a fire occurred in a tin-shop, No. 1322 North Seventeenth street. Loss about $lOO.
