The Friends and the Indians. The New York Times says: "The high character of the gentlemen who have propounded the new solution for the Indian problem in itself inspires success. Of spotless personal integrity, of great energy, sound judg ment, rare business skill, conversant with men and with material, and accustomed to enter prises quite as large as even this great task of Indian civilization, the very circumstance that such men as George H. Stuart, E. B. Tobey, and the others associated with them have under taken the work, and are willing to stake their business reputations upon it, is a gratifying omen of its feasibility. The 'hearty approval which President Grant desired Secretary Cox to give this plan on his part is all that was needed to make it a calculable success." &Rico Lump of Silver The Denver (Colorado) Register says: The arrival of a monster slab of silver—they call it a button—from Watson's smelting works, Georgetown, by last express, attracted many visitors last evening. Its troy weight Is 532 lbs., currency value $10,200, and is the gross yield of 29 tons of ore from the Coin and Brown lodes. The yield per ton is $286 18 coin valuation, as suming the bullion to be lice. This is the largest batch of bullion ever made at one test in Ame rica. Our correspondent at Georgetown says another of like size aed value, trout the same works, will be shipped in a few days. These monsters should create something, of a sensation in the East. 0 ITY NOTICES NOT ON THURSDAY ONLY, BUT Evxxv DAY Polite and gentlemanly salesmen, thoroughly educated in the buxinems, are paying every utieution to cue totnere, ettangere, uud hers, who call to pat chttee or examine the unapproachable ansortment of !•iprlrwr Clothing, now open, for • rile by Unta....ii STOKEN CO., CONTLIIIMTAL kinTEL Building, No. 824 eiIEiVIN IT street.
