Cornelius A. Worthington testified thit he was on the rafters at the limo of the aceident,and was about coming down when he saw the rafter poing over. The rafters were all in their place, were guyed ard perlines betweeathem. Re con sidercd tht m all safe and could give no account of the accident _ _ Jelin 8,. Anderson testified that he considered the accident unavoidable, and could not tell the cause of 14 the accident was unavoidable in his judatnent. Way. IdeClain sworn—When the last rafter was put up he was standing by the derrick; the rope be bad hold of was then., slacked, but it was still on.the rafter; be could not give the cause of the accident; the neaten guy rope was broken. David Cramer testified that he had the geeeratebarganf the job; was at the building a few momenta before the accident, when every thing-appeared to be;: working-right. He then leftand went_to attend.to somehusiness._ What caused the breaking of the guy he could not tell; he could tell the cause of the falling. If there had' been no strain or pret•stire from some cause the. accident would not have occurred. Thejery rendered the following verdict: That the said William Fleming came to his death from Injuries received by the accidental falling of .;afters at Bald win's Locomotive Works, Broad Arid Buttonwood streets, Dec. 10th, 1868. They were held to answer. After remaining there during the day they settled their difficulties by being united in marriage, after which they were allowed to depart. ASSAULT UPON A LITTLE GIRL—John Shehan was arrested last evening on the charge of com mitting an outrageous assault on a girl aged four years. The outrage was perpetrated at Tenth and Berke streets, Twenty-eighth Ward. The screams of the child attracted the attention of the neighbors t when Shehan was locked up. Aid. A.Pillen'a house, 'on Indian Queen lane, Manayunk, was entered yes terday by two colored men, who stole a lot of matting end then made their escape with the booty.
