STREET WA LRING. —The promenading of degraded women along Chestnut and walnut streets, at nights, has become a great nuisance, and Mayor MoMichael has determined to break it up. The police have received orders to arrest all these street walkers, and Lieut. Connelly gets quite a lot of them every night. • Last night the Reserve Corps made a raid along Chestnut street, near Eighth, and captured about ten of these characters. The prisoners were all held to keep the peace. LAB CEN Y OF Snic.—Ann Smith was taken into custody yesterday upon the charge of. having stolen silk valued at abouts4oo from a store, No. 39 North Third street, about two months ago. A warrant for her arrest was issued some time since. Yesterday a clerk in the store observed her passing, and had her arrested. She will have a hearing this afternoon before Ald. Beitler. ALLEGED SWINDLING.—WiIIiam Magtdre was arrested by the Reserve Corps for ob taining goods under false pretences. It is alleged that he represented himself as the proprietor of the Tarf House, on Eighth street, and by that means obtained liquor to the value of two hundred dollars, for a party on Market street. He was held to answer by Alderman Beitler. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY.-This morning, before Alderman Hutchinson, WilThArn Laughlin was arraigned on suspicion of larceny. He attempted to taps till and was arrested. On his person was found the back of a new fine black cloth coat, which had evidently been stolen from a tailor shop. Laughlin was committed for a further hearing.
