CITY BULLETIN. The North Broad Street Pbesbyte- Sian Church.— ]?pr some months past, Ber. E. E. Adams, the Pastor of; the North Broad Street Presbyterian Churoh, has been afflioted with an affeotton ofthe throat ■which has prevented >hw preaching; Dr. Adams being nnwilling. to /compel the churoh to be dependent upon temporary •“supplies,” and Ming desirous of giving the congregation an opportunity of filling his place if they desired te do so, tendered his resignation to the Session of the Ohhroh. Ziast' evening a congregational meeting was held for the purpose ,of taking aotion upon/ the resignation. After considerable Bion a vote was taken upon a resolution', declaring that it was inexpedient to accept v the resignation of Dr. Adams. The resolu tion was carried by 109 yeas to 50 noes. It is only right to state that many of the persons who voted “no” on the resolution, did so from a conviction that the reverend gentle man desired to be relieved from his pasto ral charge. This vote, while it was a merited compliment to Dr; Adams, is only an not of simple justice to him. Through his incessant labors and efforts in the past the congregation was formed and its beauti ful church edifice was reared. His people have shown as decided an unwillingness to dissolve their connection with him, as he has felt reluctance to succumb to the attacks of disease. Another Hearing. —John Eagan, who is charged with having committed a mur derous assault bn Day Sergeant Walsh, on election day, at Twentieth and Catharine sheets, had another hearing before Alder man'Xutz, this morning, and was. committed to await the result of the injuries inflicted. Fair.— Under the auspices’ of the ladies who manage the affairs of the Penn Widows’ Asylum, a fair is to be held in Assembly Buildings on the 22d inst., hav ing for its object the relief of the inmates of the above institution. Their appeals to the public on all 'former occasions have met with favorable responses, and a continuance cf past favors'is hoped for. Serious Accident.— Patrick MoDo nough, a workman engaged in Bobbins’ xolling inill, on Beach street, above Palmer, was caught in the belting which he was en deavoring to arrange on the shaft, about seven o’clock this morning. One leg was tom off and his body was frightfully man gled. He was conveyed to his home in the neighborhood and there is no hope of his recovery. / A Young' Scamp.— Bob Vance, a youth of fourteen years, went into a grocery store at Eighth and Coates streets, yesterday af ternoon, while the attendants were looking at the firemen’s procession,-and abstracted §7 from the money drawer. He was ar rested by officer Zepp, of the Eleventh Dis trict, and taken before Alderman Plarikin ton, by whom he was committed. Disorderly House Case.— This morn ing, before Alderman Toland, Matthias Benner was charged with keeping a disor derly house at No. 622 North Front street. His place has been complained of by the neighbors as a resort for all kinds of disor derly and low characters. He-was held in $lOO to answer at Court Perjury, —Matthew Higgins was before Alderman Fitch this morning upon the charge of peijnry. It is alleged that he Touched for a man who voted twice on elec tion day in the Twentieth Ward.
