Dolan, Shields dr, Co. are now engaged in putting them in their appropriate place. The largest of the two that are needed to replace the portion of the sidewalk destroyed at the time of the conflagration of January last, weighs:twelve tons, and it is said to be the largest slab ever brought to Philadelphia. When it is borne in mind that this huge mass of stone was brought from the ex tremest verge of the State of Maine, and immediately upon the Canadian border, the trouble, laborand expense involved in pro curing_ it will be the better appreciated. The BULLETIN can now boast the most complete newspaper office in the city, and the biggest slab of stone in its sidewalk. THE ROXBOROUGH WATER WORKS.- Messrs. D. Cramer & Son have received the contract for the construction of the engine and boiler house for the new water works at Roxborough. The bids were as follows: S. I. Givin, $19.500; H. The stack to be constructed of brick. The water way and the foundations for the pump and engine are to be constructed by the Water Department. IF PEOPLE would, for a moment, look at the state of their skin, and ask themselves how often they have given it a thorough cleansing, and inquire of reason the conse quences of such dire neglect, they would soon be convinced, and fly to the ablutions of the Bath. Many a dashing be//eapplies to a physician for a recipe to procure a bloom ing complexion. The apothecary is laid under contribution to the man of fashion for beautifying powders and oosmetics to give freshness to his pale features; both are mistaken in their applications, and, would find their searches requited in the water, and watery vapor , that is, in the baths, of cold cascades, under the douche, the shower, or, in the still waters of the hot, tepid, and cold bathing vessels. Water, soap and flesh brushes are the servants of health. MILITARY MEETING.—The officers and men of the 71st Regiment, P. V., known as Baker's California Regiment, held a meet ing last evening. Col. ACTION RESPECTING THE SABBATH.-At the resent meeting of the Atlantic County Bible Society, held at May's Landing, an "Association to promote the better obser vance of the Sabbath," was organized. Hon. D. S. Blackman was cane& to the chair, and Rev. T. R. Brace was appointed Secre tary. A committee was appointed to draw up a constitution, and report at the next meeting. A petition to the Directors of the Camden and Atlantic Railroad Company to withdraw the Sunday train, was unani mously adopted, and will be circulated through the county for signatures. A number of persons present stated that the theatres, dance houses, and bowling alleys are kept open at Egg Harbor City every Sunday, drawing young people from different villages of the neighborhood to attend them, to the injury of their morals. After some discussion a resolution was adopted to this effect: "That we sincerely regret to hear of the desecration of the Sabbath in the county of Atlantic, by various persons keeping open theatres and other places of amusement, to attract the young thither, and request the various authorities in the towns, city and county, to see that the laws of the State on the observance of Sunday as a day of ces sation from work and amusement are put in force." It was also stated that not many weeks before, an exhibition of the public school at what is called the Farmers' Schoolhouse, was held on Sunday, at which a great deal of lager beer Was drunk, and other improper performances took place. In consequence of this, one of the trustees resigned his po sition. After transacting the usual annual busi ness, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Hon. D. S.
