npooGied Murder—Real A Strange Can e The Monongahela Republican giVs.th 'following particulars of a' strange case of supposed...murder- and -romarkable-fright: About the first of February last, during one :bright coklafternoon,_an accident happened to the wife of William Henry, residing near Love's saw mill, in Nottingham township, this county, which is of so singular and painful a charaofer as itidemand our notice. Sometime in the morning of the day on which it occurred, Mr. Henry was called away from horde, and on leaving in formed his wife that she might expecit his return about noon. About. the middle off the day she was herself sum moned to visit , a neighbor's haus?, and as her husband's return was momenta rily expected she called the large' NeW Foundland watch dog and fastened hiin up in thekitchen departed on her _visit,' and spent the greater part of the afternoon at the house of her friend. - When the after noon began' to wane she started for home is time.to reach there before dark. Nothing happened by the way, and she tripped cheerily along, reaching the house'in safety. Upon approaching the door-step what was her horror to see thou chitted with blood; ' the porch' too was covered with gore, and the door post stained with--ohl.l,horror, the thought flashed over her mind that her •=husband had been linurderedi! - with' a piercing scream. , r`l she swooped_ , and . fell. Mr. . Henry had not returned at the time appointed, having been detained on business, and. in fact did 'not 'reach home until' evening-- some - two hours after the •occurrences' just - stated. `When he did' reach' his' residence : the sight that met - his gaze was 'enough tb Craze a stronger' an than he. His — Wife lay ghastly and cold upon the frozen ground, where she had fallen unconscious, the lintals and door posts, the steps and -porchwere covered= with blood, a gory , track • was marked out through the garden — Where ' somebody had been dragged after the Tear ful death-struggle. Scarcely able to keep his mind on its balance the husband;-car ried the - body of his wife into the house, where fresh traces of blood net him. He placed her on a bed and hastily summoned assistancefroin the adjoining farm; The lady slowly recovered from her 8 WOO% - but, alas, the shock given to her mind and bodywas so great that she is yet upon a bed of pain and suffering from which she may never recover. It may not be improper to add that the lady was expecting soon to be- come a mother, and her situation being of the most delicate nature, is by this circum stance rendered more dangerous, and her reeovery less probable. The occasion of so much misery is this: A man by the name of Zebulon Hess, if we are correctly informed, charged the New foundland dog, belonging to Mr. Henry, with killing sheep, a charge which seems to be without foundation in fact, for the animal. bore a good character, and was not known to he addicted to any habits of this kind. However, be that as it may, this man Hess, as we are totd, went to the house after the departure of Mrs. Henry, and killed the dog. There must have been a terrible struggle, for the poor beast's blood was scat terer everywhere, and his body dragged through the yard and thrown into the mill pond. .It must have been a severe provoca tion that would justify the entry of a man's house in the absence of its inmates, and the ,perpetration of an outrage which in its results has been so frightful. Mrs. Henry is a lady of great worth, of high social po sition, being the niece of Hon. George V. Lawrence, and in her affliction she has the sympathy of a large circle of friends: .If her life shall be sacrificed, and that of her unborn babe, we have no language to ex press our horror at the deed, which mall owns and mean in itself, may result in a double murder! - ROARI) OF TRADE.
